The remains of a 95-year-old woman, Dalyce Curry, were tragically discovered in the ruins of her Altadena home, as reported by affiliate KABC on Monday. The coroner officially confirmed this devastating news to Curry's family on Sunday evening.
Curry was initially reported missing after a fire engulfed her home, sparking concerns for her safety. Dalyce Kelley, Curry's granddaughter and part-time caregiver, had dropped her grandmother off late at night following a hospital visit. Unaware of the impending danger, Kelley returned to check on her grandmother after receiving alerts about power outages.
Upon arriving at the scene, Kelley was met with the heartbreaking news that the property had been completely destroyed. She described the scene as 'total devastation,' with everything obliterated except for her grandmother's blue Cadillac.
Known affectionately as 'Momma D,' Dalyce Curry had a vibrant presence and a rich history. She was part of Old Black Hollywood in the 1950s, appearing as an extra in iconic films such as 'The Ten Commandments' and 'Lady Sings the Blues.'
