Nineties boy band East 17 are set to headline Mansfield's Christmas light switch on event this year. The group, famous for hits such as 'Stay Another Day' will perform at The Big Switch On event in the Market Place on Sunday, November 27.
Executive Mayor Andy Abrahams said the town was "beyond excited" to welcome the band. “After two years when Christmas community events were drastically curtailed due to the pandemic we’re returning with a bang this year," he said.
“We are beyond excited to have top selling band East 17 as part of our festive celebration line-up and we hope to see the Market Place brimming with happy faces and enjoying a nostalgic singalong. Start warming up your vocals.”

East 17, named after the postcode of the East London district in which they grew up, notched up 18 top-20 singles and four top-10 albums in the 1990s. The band is currently represented by founding members John Handy and Terry Coldwell as well as Robby Craig.
The band's original line up also consisted of Tony Mortimer and Brian Harvey. They had a huge Christmas number one with 'Stay Another Day'.
The free Christmas event will be hosted by local radio station Mansfield 103.2FM from 3pm to 5.05pm and will also feature the 90s sounds of singer Suki Soul. There will entertainment around the town centre all day with walkabout entertainers and free giveaways, concluded with a firework display.
