90s Baby Pop at Swansea Arena: Fan fury after organisers confirm Gareth Gates has pulled out just hours before concert

Concert-goers have been left disappointed and upset after one of the headline acts at a 90s concert coming to Swansea on Friday pulled out last-minute. Thousands of people have forked out around £40 each to see the 90s Baby Pop concert at Swansea Arena - which will see several popular bands including Atomic Kitten, Five and S Club perform their top hits - but have been left feeling let down after it was confirmed Pop Idol star and 90s heart-throb Gareth Gates would no longer be performing.

Gareth had been on the confirmed line-up for the Swansea Arena concert for several months - and been featured on all social media posts about the event shared on the official 90s Baby Facebook page, including a post that was published just this morning (Thursday).

But at 1pm today, ticket-holders were left confused when the final running order was shared on the social media page explaining what time each band or performer would take to the stage - and Gareth Gates was not featured. Several ticketholders have taken to social media to share their disappointment at Gareth pulling out of the event. One fan referred to the situation as "False advertising" and said he was intending to contact organisers for a refund, whilst others commented: "no Gareth Gates" with crying emojis and "hope he's ok" with heartbroken emojis.

"Is it true Gareth Gates isn’t there. Tamping!" added another fan. "Any idea why Gareth Gates has been ditched from the line up?" added another. You can read more stories about Swansea here.

The 90s Baby Pop UK tour is heading to Swansea, Edinburgh, Stockton, London, Hull and Manchester. WalesOnline understands a Portsmouth concert was originally advertised but has since been cancelled.

The description for the Swansea event reads: "The best and biggest 90s pop names will perform their greatest hits in Swansea on Fri 30 Sept 2022! This is your chance to see your childhood sweethearts perform their nineties nostalgia anthems, featuring some of the most recognisable names from the decade.

"This show is like no other, and for good reason. 90s Baby is where it’s at for the best of 90s pop, so make sure you grab your tickets before they sell out! See you on the dancefloor."
