9 exciting new Leeds restaurants and bars you have to visit in 2023

The food and drink scene in Leeds is getting even bigger and better.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen a host of culinary teams confirm plans to open venues in the city. There’s also been announcements of new bars launching.

To make sure you don’t miss out, we’ve put together a list of the best new openings to look forward to. These include venues in Leeds city centre and beyond.

High end food, indulgent spots and craft beer bars as just some of the highlights to come. We've also included a few recent openings from the last few weeks which might have slipped you by.

Gino D’Acampo Boar Lane

Celeb chef Gino D’Acampo has opened a new Leeds city centre venue. The Italian restaurant and bar has opened inside the newly-refurbished Leeds Marriott Hotel. The project has welcomed an overall investment of £2m in the iconic building with 52 jobs created.

Leeds city centre opening, Gino D’Acampo Boar Lane, serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and cocktails until late. The luxury eatery has been designed by acclaimed international restaurant designer Bernard Carroll.

Aarti

Aarti is a south Indian and Punjabi eatery. It became popular after opening in Street Lane, Roundhay, over nine-years-ago. It has since become one of the best-rated Indian restaurants in the city. The business has now moved and taken over the premises of former popular Thai restaurant, My Thai, in Swinegate.

Sacerre

Sacerre Restaurant will open its doors in Otley Road on Friday May 26. The eatery's premises is an old library building which has undergone a £2million makeover. Sancerre's restaurant and bar is complimented by a stunning south facing 28-cover outdoor terrace.

A spokesperson for the eatery said: "There will be a stunning gold faced bar with tasteful décor, timeless lighting and a fusion of tiling and mirrors will leave guests amazed."

Fourth Floor Bar

A glam new bar has launched at Harvey Nichols in Leeds. The team at the Leeds city centre shop and venue has revealed their new Fourth Floor Bar after giving the space a major makeover. Customers can expect a selection of premium Champagnes, fine wines and new expertly-crafted cocktails. Customers can also expect to find beautiful freshly made handmade cakes, created using the finest ingredients and mouth-watering recipes.

Headingley Heights at Box

Headingley Heights opened at the start of May at Box in Headingley. The sports bar company, who own two venues Leeds, has expanded their Otley Road venue. The bar, which has been in the student area for over 21 years, has opened the third floor rooftop area just in time for summer.

The Savvy Baker

Popular Leeds sweet treats company The Savvy Baker has opened at Leeds United's Elland Road stadium. Entrepreneur Savannah Roqaa built her online business The Savvy Baker during the coronavirus lockdown period in 2020. She began gaining success after posting her cakes on her Instagram page, which now has over 53,000 followers.

Announcing the new Elland Road venue, Savannah posted: "Exciting news guys. We’re going to have a stand at Elland Road. Inside the turnstiles at the East Stand on match days and supplied to the brew bar and coffee shop at the east stand too."

Karobar

Restaurant Dastaan, based in Otley Road, Adel, and Kirkstall Brewery will be bringing a 'modern infusion' of new dishes inspired by traditional Indian cuisine as well as IPA flavours. The new restaurant and bar set to open has a working name of Karobar - meaning business in Hindi. The venue is set to open this summer and is currently under refurbishment.

Fearns

Fearns, a new destination for dining, drinks, retail and music is launching in the Leeds Dock district, this May (PR)

Fearns will opens its doors, at Leeds Dock, on Friday, May 19. Chefs plan to bring together the finest ingredients from across Yorkshire in a series of indulgent seasonal menus, with creative influence coming from a mixture of European kitchens. Fearns aims to shine a spotlight on local suppliers and products including Yorkshire squeaky cheese, Longley Farm butter and Kirkstall Brewery on draught.

Get Baked

Get Baked will be opening its doors in Leeds this summer. Rich Myers, known as the UK's rudest baker for his sarcastic remarks on social media and tag line of 'tuck in or f*** off', is opening his second bakery in Crown Street, The Calls.
