Just days after the Deshaun Watson-Houston Texans saga ended with him being traded to the Cleveland Browns, the AFC South saw another major quarterback trade last week.
The Indianapolis Colts pulled off a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, acquiring quarterback Matt Ryan in exchange for a 2022 third-round selection, a huge move for the quarterback-needy Colts.
The Falcons were at one point thought to be one of the favorites for Watson, but they blew their lead, 28-3 style.
The argument can certainly be made that if the Falcons didn’t pursue Watson so vigorously, Ryan would still be in Atlanta and not with the Titans’ AFC South rival.
Say what you want about Ryan, but out of a group of possible quarterback options that also included Jameis Winston, Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo, Ryan was the last guy we wanted to see in Indy.
The Ryan trade is just one of nine stories we’re taking a look at from around the AFC South.
