87 paedophiles, rapists and perverts all parents should know about

This is a list of 87 paedophiles, rapists and perverts linked to Merseyside that all parents should know the faces of.

Dangerous predators, paedophiles and rapists who have targeted woman, men and children have disgusted and shocked ECHO readers. Some horrific cases have been brought before Liverpool Crown Court, including victims who were just children.

From violent rapists to manipulative groomers, their crimes appalled readers when they were first reported.

Thanks to the courage of victims who reported their abusers and in some instances gave evidence against them in court, and of course the dedicated police officers and Crown Prosecution Service teams whose painstaking work built up cases against perpetrators, these twisted crooks were all locked up.

To make people aware of the ways in which predators can target and children, we have put together a list of some of these men and woman and their sick crimes.

Andrew Ratchford - Jailed on February 23, 2023

Andrew Ratchford of Gainford Road, Knotty Ash, was found guilty after a four-day trial of one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and one count of attempting to incite a child to engage in a sexual act. He offered what he thought was a 14-year-old girl money and clothes and asked to meet at a hotel room but during the trial in January this year, the 43-year-old claimed he knew he was talking to a fake profile.

Ratchford was sentenced to four years imprisonment and a sexual harm prevention order was implemented for 10 years. Notification requirements are also in place indefinitely.

Gyulhan Hyusein - Jailed on February 23, 2023

Gyulhan Hyusein, 25, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault by digital penetration (Cheshire Police)

Gyulhan Hyusein, 25, followed a woman in her late teens as she was walking to her partner's home at 3am on Sunday, October 16 2022 following a night out with friends. Liverpool Crown Court heard the woman walked along Orford Lane in Warrington, Hyusein put his arm around his victim and placed his hand down her back.

The victim pushed him away and told him "no" multiple times, before dragging her into a an alleyway and pushed her against a wall, where he continued to touch her. Gyulhan Hyusein pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.

The 25-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, February 23.

Lucel Tugui - Jailed on February 21, 2023

Lucel Tugui drove past the woman's home and instead took her to a remote location, where he performed a series of vile acts on her. But the "devious predator" was caught out after the incident was recorded by a CCTV camera inside his car, with the footage having captured him "smugly" saying "she has no clue what happened" after dropping his victim off following his attack.

Tugui admitted causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault by a jury. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for 12 years.

Christopher Smith - Jailed on February 17, 2023

Christopher Smith, 41, of Kirkway, New Brighton, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, February 17 after pleading guilty to a number of offences (Merseyside Police)

Christopher Smith, 41, who was a school governor and worked for the Home Office, had his secret life revealed after a pervert was arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police. When Smith, who was then living in New Brighton, Wirral, was arrested and interviewed on November 18 by Merseyside Police the same images were found on his phone and a “plethora” of messages between the two men.

Smith, of Brookfield Drive, Fazakerley, pleaded guilty to 15 offences involving three of sexual activity with a child, taking, making, distributing and possessing indecent images. He was ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Alan Cashman - Jailed on February 16, 2023

Alan Cashman held daily lewd chats on Facebook with what he believed was a 14-year-old boy and exposed himself during a video call. But, unbeknown to him, he was being ensnared in a paedophile hunter sting.

Cashman admitted attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity and attempting sexual communications with a child. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he was jailed for 20 months as well as being handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and told to sign the sex offenders' register for the same period.

Alan Thomley - Jailed on February 14, 2023

Alan Thomley engaged in lewd online chats with three decoy accounts posing as what he believed were teenage girls aged as young as 13. The 51-year-old asked one of the supposed youngsters what colour her underwear was and exposed himself on video while in the bath to the others.

Thomley, of Longfield Road in Bootle, admitted three counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of attempting to incite a child to watch sexual activity and three counts of attempting sexual communications with a child. He was jailed for 45 months, handed a new lifetime SHPO and told to sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

Iain Lloyd - Jailed on February 10, 2023

Iain Lloyd, 33, of William Burton Place in New Ferry, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, February 10 after pleading not guilty for historic sexual offences with a child. Lloyd was convicted in December following a trial, and has been sentenced to four years in jail after being found guilty for indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14 years.

He will also be on the sex offender register for life. Detectives from Merseyside’s Unity Team who specialise in Rape and Serious Sexual Assault Offences, charged Lloyd for two counts of indecent assault with a minor which took place more than 20 years ago.

Shaun Bennett - Jailed on February 6, 2023

Shaun Bennett, 19, of Banner Street, Wavertree, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court in relation to a sexual assault which took place while he was under investigation for the rape of a young girl. Bennett was already serving a seven and a half year detention with a further five year extended licence for the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 2019, for which he was sentenced on September 9, 2021.

In relation to this offence, he pleaded guilty to making threats to kill, but continued to deny inciting someone to engage in sexual activity until four days before cross examination of the victim for trial was due to take place. Bennett was sentenced to 13 months in detention for causing someone under 16 to engage in sexual activity, and two years for making threats to kill, to be served consecutively to each other and to his current sentence.

Petrus-Ionut Apostoae - Jailed on February 3, 2023

Petrus-Ionut Apostoae, 25, of Gorsey Lane, Orford, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court charged with two counts of rape, one count of burglary, three counts of attempted burglary and one count of attempting to trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence. His victim woke up to hands over her face and realised an unknown man was in her bedroom.

The prosecution said the victim lay on the bed terrified that the children would wake up and come into the room, and when the defendant realised she was no longer fighting so removed his hand from her mouth and proceeded to rape her. Immediately after the assault, the victim underwent medical examination and she was found to have abrasions over both knees and was later given antibiotics after contracting an STI from the rapist.

Apostoae was given a prison sentence of 14 years and eight months, plus an extended licence period of eight years, totalling 22 years and eight months.

Sean Melvin - Sentenced on February 2, 2023

Liverpool Crown Court heard officers raided Sean Melvin's address at around 7.45am on June 8, 2021 and seized two phones. Indecent images of children aged between eight and 12 were subsequently discovered on both phones, as well as a stash of extreme pornographic images involving animals.

The defendant admitted possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent images and possession on extreme pornographic images. Melvin was handed a 10-month imprisonment suspended for two years as well as a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 30 days and a programme requirement.

Jack Williams - Jailed on February 2, 2023

Jack Williams, 24, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court (Merseyside Police)

Jack Williams, 24, committed a number of sexual offences against a woman, leaving her "emotionless" and "hollow". He forced her onto her hands and knees, ripped off her clothes, touched her sexually and refused to let her leave the room.

Williams, of Wokefield Way, Eccleston, St Helens, pleaded guilty to a number of offences including causing actual bodily harm, sexual assault, rape and sexual assault by penetration and another serious criminal offence, in addition to the criminal damage charge. Williams, 24, was jailed for nine years and 10 months, followed by a three-year licence period.

Ian Wilkinson - Jailed on January 31, 2023

Ian Wilkinson repeatedly abused a teenage boy during the 1980s. A trial at Liverpool Crown Court heard his assaults occurred in the Newton-le-Willows area in the mid-to-late 80s.

Wilkinson, of Ormskirk Road in Upholland, performed sexual acts on his victim and forced him to carry out sex acts. He was found guilty of nine counts of indecent assault by a jury following a trial.

Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he was jailed for nine years and told to sign the sex offenders' register for life.

John Grunner - Jailed on January 31, 2023

John Grunner appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday (Merseyside Police)

John Grunner, 44, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after being caught by police on the way to meet with what he thought was a 14 year-old boy. The officer told Grunner he was 14 early in the conversation, and Grunner soon asked if he had “done gay stuff before”.

Grunner was sentenced to three years and four months imprisonment.

Matthew Reed - Jailed on January 30, 2023

Matthew Reed was convicted of sexual offences three times, having been handed a lengthy jail sentence previously for raping another young child. The paedophile shouted "bulls***" as he was locked up again at the end of January 2023.

Reed admitted two counts of rape and was imprisoned for 11 years, as well as being handed an extended five years on licence. He will also be required to sign the sex offenders' register for life and was handed a 20-year sexual harm prevention order.

Ryan Kenny - Jailed on January 27, 2023

Ryan Kenny is banned from Liverpool city centre by a court order after a spate of offending which also saw him sexually assault a young student, steal Toblerones from B&M and smash his way into Specsavers during a burglary. Despite this, he told a judge: "I'm going back to town whether you like it or not."

Kenny admitted sexual assault, assault, theft and burglary. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he was jailed for 28 months and handed a criminal behaviour order banning him from the city centre for three years.

Rohit Bindhu - Jailed on January 27, 2023

Using the alias M***Diver, Rohit Bindhu, 28, used an online chatroom to prey on what he thought was a 12-year-old girl, graphically describing his sexual fantasies about her and later sending her pornographic images. When the girl - who was actually an undercover police officer - told him she was just 12, Bindhu sent her an image of a young girl performing a sex act on an adult man, along with the message "the younger the better".

He was sentenced to five years and three months in prison, was subject to a life-long sexual harm prevention order, and will be on the sex offenders register for life.

Christopher McConnell - Jailed on January 26, 2023

Christopher McConnell, from Warrington, jailed for 18 years after being convicted of child rape (Cheshire Police)

Christopher McConnell was brought to justice after a campaign of rape against a young child. Jurors heard how McConnell would hold a pillow over his victim's face when they became upset and used threats to keep them quiet.

However the 36-year-old, from Warrington but most recently of Prestbury Drive, Stockport, was found guilty of four counts of child rape and hauled back to court for sentence. McConnell was jailed for 18 years.

Michael Hartley - Jailed on January 25, 2023

Michael Hartley, 36, of Winter Grove, St Helens, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to six counts of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity. A court heard that one of the offences took place over a video call and another in a Whatsapp image.

Hartley was given a sentence of three years imprisonment, and a sexual harm prevention order was implemented. He is also now subject to notification requirements indefinitely and a victim surcharge was applied.

Harry Croft - Jailed on January 25, 2023

Harry Croft, 61, said he would pretend to be the supposed youngster's granddad if customers or staff became suspicious during a series of lewd online chats. But, unbeknown to him, he was actually talking to an undercover police officer.

Croft admitted attempting sexual communications with a child and arranging a child sex offence. In January he was jailed for 30 months, handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and told to sign the sex offenders' register for the same period.

Craig Carter - Jailed on January 19, 2023

Craig Carter arranged to meet what he believed was a 12-year-old girl for sex at a train station but, unbeknown to him, was actually chatting to an undercover police officer. The "manipulative and predatory" sex offender told a judge "that's ridiculous" after being handed a lengthy prison sentence.

Carter was jailed for seven-and-half years and handed an extended five-year licence period. He must serve at least two thirds of the custodial element behind bars before becoming eligible for release.

Michael Longbottom - Jailed on January 19, 2023

Michael Longbottom, 28, was sentenced for seven different counts relating to breaching sexual harm prevention and notification orders. Longbottom, of Bedford Road, Bootle, received a suspended sentence on September 22, 2017, after being convicted of offences involving sexual activity with a female child.

As part of this sentence, Longbottom was subject to a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely, which dictated he was not allowed to be alone with a child without the consent of their parent, and that parent had to be aware of his previous convictions. Longbottom breached these orders seven times, including by going on holiday with the children, having a secret phone, and residing where children lived.

The Judge passed six concurrent sentences, totalling 28 months immediate imprisonment. A revised sexual harm prevention order was also implemented indefinitely, and a deprivation order for the mobile phone found was ordered.

Joseph Shaw - Jailed on January 18, 2023

Armed forces veteran Joseph Shaw invited his victim and her friend to his flat after meeting the latter through a dating app. He then engaged in a series of sex acts with her, which she would not legally have been able to consent to due to the extent of her learning difficulties.

Liverpool Crown Court heard the 21-year-old victim has a mental age of eight and an IQ in the bottom 0.1% of the general population, causing a "significant degree of intellectual impairment". Shaw admitted sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder impeding choice.

He appeared shaken as he was told in January of this year he will serve two thirds of a seven year and eight month prison sentence before being eligible for release.

Michael Southern - Jailed on January 17, 2023

Michael Southern, 28, of Vine Street, Widnes, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after being found with more than 100 indecent images of children, some aged only one year old. A court heard that on December 15, 2018, police received information about Southern, but did not visit him until April 9, 2019.

Southern was sentenced to 28 months immediate imprisonments January, and a sexual harm prevention order and a notification order was also imposed. A deprivation order in respect of the devices seized was also made.

Ahmed Khalio - Jailed on January 17, 2023

Ahmed Khalio groped the teenager and pinned her against the counter, but later claimed he had only been "messing around". The city's top judge today told the dad that his sickening attack had been "outrageous".

Liverpool Crown Court heard the girl stopped in the Go Local store on Scargreen Avenue in Norris Green on her way from school on the day of the attack early last year. Andrew McInnes, prosecuting, said the youngster was alone and still wearing her school uniform on what was her 16th birthday.

The defendant was assisted by an interpreter in the dock after being found guilty of four counts of sexual assault following a trial before magistrates. Khalio was jailed for six months, as well as being handed a seven-year notification requirement.

David Merrill - Sentenced on January 16, 2023

David Merrill, 41, of Daffodil Close, Widnes, was described as "a person of evidential abject loneliness" and being dependent on alcohol. (widnesweeklynews)

David James Merrill, 41, of Daffodil Close, Widnes, offered to pay a "14-year-old girl" to see what he called her “beautiful boobs”. Merrill had previously pleaded guilty at the first opportunity on August 23, 2022, to one count of attempted sexual communication with a child under 16 in connection with the exchange of messages.

Judge Stuart Driver, KC, sentenced Merrill to six months in prison, suspended for two years, with an order to complete the (Becoming) New Me programme and alcohol treatment requirement plus up to 20 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Mykal Owoo - Jailed on January 10, 2023

Mykal Owoo appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after being found with 22 indecent images and videos of children on his phone. Eight of the images and videos were category A, the most serious, 10 were category B, and a further four were deemed to be category C.

Ben Berkson, prosecuting, said in June 2020, police visited Owoo's home address, but were told he was at work. They attended his workplace at B&Q in Speke, and after speaking to his manager, he was arrested.

Owoo was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for the first count relating to Category A images, five months for count two and three months for count three, but to be served concurrently.

Kevin Lloyd - Jailed on January 5, 2023

Liverpool Crown Court heard Kevin Lloyd, 37, ripped off his victim's clothing and raped her while she was too incapacitated through drink to fight back and his vile friend, Ryan Dunning, acted as look-out. Judge Louise Brandon described the incident, which happened at 1.40am on March 21 last year, as “every woman’s worst nightmare".

Lloyd, 38, of Boundary Street, Liverpool, was jailed for ten years with an extended eight year licence after pleading guilty to rape and Ryan Dunning received the same sentence. In addition they were both given a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Kevin King - Jailed on January 3, 2023

Kevin King's child victim was left feeling "trapped" after being subjected to years of sickening assaults at his hands. Michael Scholes, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that the now 55-year-old repeatedly abused the teenager over the course of three years.

King was unanimously found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a child, two of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and two charges of causing a child to watch sexual activity by a jury following a trial. He was jailed for eight years, as well as being handed a lifelong notification requirement and a restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim for 10 years.

Robert Pearson - Jailed on December 22, 2022

Robert Pearson claimed to be "shocked and concerned" after police found a stash of "the most depraved form" of indecent images on his mobile phone. The pensioner has now been convicted of sexual offences for a fourth time, having also abused a girl at the turn of the century.

Appearing via video link to HMP Risley, Pearson was jailed for 20 months. The pervert - who is already subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a lifelong notification requirement - was also told to pay a victim surcharge, with forfeiture of the seized device ordered.

Rodger McKindley - Jailed on December 19, 2022

Rodger McKindley, 70, of Ormskirk Road, Skelmersdale, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court for sentencing. A court heard how McKindley performed a sex act on himself five times in the presence of a woman in her eighties, and persuaded her to touch his private parts on another occasion.

He was sentenced in December 2022 to 20 months in prison, and will appear on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Peter Wright - Jailed on December 17, 2023

Peter Wright, who has worked in some of the city's most highly-regarded restaurants and been hired to cater for private clients abroad, "poisoned" his two victims - leaving them "devastated". Despite this, he has shown an "utter disregard" for his vile crimes and "does not seem to care" for the impact on their lives.

A trial at Liverpool Crown Court previously heard that the now 31-year-old, of Old Swan, repeatedly targeted them when they were aged as young as 12 during the noughties. Wright, who was also a juvenile at the time, also tried to rape one of the girls on one occasion.

Wright was convicted of attempted rape and eight counts of sexual assault by a jury. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Damola Olateju - Jailed on December 12, 2022

Damola Olateju, 37, had targeted the woman when she and her friends went back to a flat after a night out in Warrington town centre, in December 2020. The carer filmed himself trying to have sex with the heavily drunk victim as she pleaded "no" and "get off me".

Olateju may have gotten away with the shocking attack had detectives not extracted the damning video from his mobile phone. Olateju, of Padgate Lane in Warrington, was charged with two counts of rape and one of attempted rape which he denied.

He stood trial at Liverpool Crown Court, where a jury cleared him of the rapes but found him guilty of the attempted rape charge, which related to the events in the video. Olateju, who appeared in court vid video-link from prison, hung his head as he was jailed for five years and ordered to sign the sex offender' register for life.

Nathan Nash - Jailed on December 16, 2023

Nathan Nash assaulted a woman after following her onto a train (Merseyside Police)

Nathan Nash, 30, of Ribblesdale Close, Eastham, told his victim he was "horny" and rubbed her thigh on the Merseyrail Service. Judge Neil Flewitt, KC, described the assault, he said: “You stroked her left leg and then the inside of her right thigh, quite high up and towards the area of her groin.”

Nash followed her all the way to her place of work, at some points blocking her path, and upon arrival, asked for her phone number. He also told her he would be waiting for her at the train station when she finished work at 5pm, which she also captured on film and was shown in court.

Nash pleaded guilty to sexual assault on October 21. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.

Geoffrey Prince - Jailed on December 13, 2022

Geoffrey Prince, 79, of Mount Grove, Birkenhead, was actually speaking to an online paedophile hunter group which had created a fake account of a 14-year-old girl to “ensnare” sexual offenders. Liverpool Crown Court heard that Prince asked for images of her “t*ts”, and asked her to perform a sex act.

She reported him to the police after two months and he was subsequently arrested. Prince was sentenced to 20 months in jail, and will be on the sex offenders register for ten years.

Robert Youds - Jailed on December 13, 2022

Robert Youds told a supposed 13-year-old she was "stunning" and asked to have a bath with her during the sickening chats. But, unbeknown to him, he was actually messaging a decoy account set up as part of an online ruse - and was ultimately dobbed in by his own mum.

Youds, who appeared via video link to HMP Liverpool, admitted attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child. He was jailed for 27 months.

Andrew Teale - Sentenced in December

Andrew Teale was exposed following an operation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit. The ECHO revealed that, until his arrest, the 43-year-old was an important figure at FTSE 250-listed company AJ Bell.

But the married dad has now lost his "very well paid job" and changed his name after engaging in sickening online chats with what he believed to be a young girl. Teale - who has no previous convictions - has since changed his name, although his new alias was not stated in court. Teale admitted admitted attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child and attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child but was spared prison, instead being handed a 12-month imprisonment suspended for two years in December 2022.

Neil Rycroft - Jailed on November 29

Neil Rycroft subjected a teenager to the attack in a public toilet block after a "chance encounter". She was left feel "numb and disgusted" as a result of the actions of the "predator".

Liverpool Crown Court heard the girl had been out rollerblading shortly before 8pm on the evening in question and saw the defendant driving past her several times in his van. Rycroft later pulled his vehicle over to use a toilet near to where she had stopped.

After he had done so, the 48-year-old approached her from behind, tapped her on the shoulder and asked her "if she was nervous". Rycroft touched her on the bottom and beckoned her into a cubicle, where he instructed her to perform a sex act on him. She "froze" at this point, with the pervert leaving and driving away afterwards.

Rycroft of Cherry Tree Road in Moreton, Wirral, admitted sexual activity with a child and was jailed for five years and one months by Judge Brian Cummings KC.

Dorniel Nica - Jailed on November 28

Registered sex offender Dorniel Nica was tracked down by facial recognition technology after filming a teenage girl in the public toilets in Warrington 's Golden Square Shopping Centre. Nica, 28, of Cherry Road, Chester appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court.

The court heard how a teenage girl was in a cubicle of the public toilets on October 2, 2022 after feeling sick. She saw a hand holding a black iPhone coming from underneath the partition with the neighbouring cubicle.

Nica was sentenced to 36 weeks imprisonment. He was also handed two restraining orders against two girls and ordered to pay court costs.

Hameed Naderi - Jailed on November 28

"Remorseless predator" Hameed Naderi snatched the "very vulnerable" student off the streets in the early hours, coaxing her into his car before attacking her in a public place and his own home. His 19-year-old victim took a taxi into town shortly after 12.15am.

Michael Scholes, prosecuting, described how she recalled being in a bar on Concert Square, but her next memory was being in the stranger's bedroom with him on top of her and having sex with her. Naderi, who was assisted by an interpreter as he appeared via video link, came to the UK as an asylum seeker, but will now be deported.

Naderi admitted two counts of rape and was jailed for nine and a half years in November last year.

Roy Brown's actions had a "life-changing" impact for a little girl after she was preyed upon during "what should have been a time of celebration".

The 77-year-old touched the schoolgirl to the breast area over her clothing on her birthday in what Frank Dillon, prosecuting, described as a "sustained incident". Brown, who was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault by a jury after a trial, was jailed for four years in November 2022.

Lance Bickerton - Sentenced on November 23

Lance Bickerton, 60, of Blundell Road, Widnes, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images across Categories A to C, and possessing indecent images, prohibited computer generated images, and “extreme pornography”, namely bestiality.

Bickerton was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and made him subject to the notification requirements - also known as the “sex offenders register” - and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both for 10 years.

Graeme Phillips - Sentenced on November 15

Graeme Phillips, 41, of Ivy Lane, Moreton, who was handed a suspended sentence after being caught out by 'paedophile hunters' (Liverpool Echo)

Graeme Phillips, 41, was snared by a group of paedophile hunters known as 'Dank Dragons Exposed' after he sent vile naked selfies to the group's 'decoys'. The 41-year-old eventually tracked to the Farmer's Arms pub in Moreton, where another group called Stop UK confronted him on behalf of the Wales based Dank Dragons and performed a "citizen's arrest".

Phillips was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, and told he must sign the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years. He was also ordered to complete the Horizon course for sex offenders and to complete 40 Rehabilitation Activity Days with the Probation Service.

Jamie Scott - Jailed on November 18

Jamie Scott, 35, was described as "smirking and smiling" when he was caught playing with himself in the bushes at Sankey Valley Park, Warrington, at around 3pm on May 17, 2022. The pervert, who has three other convictions for exposure, claimed he was simply urinating when he was hauled before the courts - but the jury rejected this, and found him guilty of the crime.

He also pleaded guilty to breaching an existing sexual offence order. Scott was sentenced to 12 months in prison for exposure, and 27 months for breaching his sexual harm prevention order, to run concurrently.

Simon Tunstall - Jailed on November 11

Simon Tunstall set up a hidden camera to spy on a teenage girl (Merseyside Police)

Simon Tunstall, 45, set up a hidden spy camera, which sent moving images of a girl to his mobile phone for approximately four weeks in May 2019. He initially denied the offences but later pleaded guilty to voyeurism and the production of indecent images of a child.

Judge Woodhall jailed Tunstall for 12 months last year. The 45-year-old will also have to sign a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was handed a restraining order, keeping him away from the victim.

David McMullan - Jailed on November 11

David McMullan sent his teenage victim a string of gifts before flying over to sexually abuse her four times over the course of around 18 months. On one occasion, the 32-year-old plied her with drugs which knocked her out - before she awoke to find him having sex with her.

Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool he was jailed for 19 years with an additional five years on licence.

Paul Daw - Jailed on November 11

Paul Daw, 55, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court to be sentenced after pleading guilty to four charges of indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16. Daw was sentenced to 28 months in prison for the offences, of which he will serve half before serving the remainder of his sentence on licence in the community.

Kevin Jones - Jailed on November 10

Kevin Jones befriended two supposed teenagers on Facebook before engaging them in a series of lewd chats. But, unbeknown to him, he was actually being ensnared in a paedophile hunters' sting.

Jones, of Martinhall Road in Fazakerley admitted two counts of attempting sexual communications with a child, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and two charges of breaching a sexual harm prevention order. He was imprisoned for four years and given an additional two years on licence.

Ablolom Okbazge - Jailed on November 3

Ablolom Okbazge, 27, of no fixed abode (Greater Manchester Police)

Ablolom Okbazge was jailed after a woman was subjected to "a prolonged and horrific" sexual attack after becoming separated from friends on a night out. Bolton Crown Court heard how Okbazge approached the 37-year-old victim before taking her down a side alley off King Street to a more secluded area in the early hours of December 18, 2021.

Okbazge was found guilty of rape. He was jailed for nine years and was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Jack Bowker - sentenced on November 9

Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard that, between July and November 2021, Jack Bowker, 29, engaged in sexual conversations over Snapchat with an account he thought belonged to a 12-year-old girl. Bowker sent messages about "spanking" the 12-year-old's backside, lying in bed with her and getting an erection, having oral sex and taking her virginity.

Bowker, of Twickenham Drive, Leasowe, pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and was given a six month sentence, suspended for 18 months.

Kyle Jago - Jailed on October 26

Kyle Jago, of Higher Road in Halewood, started talking to a girl via an online app in May 2022, before meeting up later that month. He then proceeded to groom the girl and engage in inappropriate sexual behaviour.

He was jailed for four years in October last year and ordered to sign the sex offender’s register for life. Jago is also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Mikael Janesson - Jailed on October 28

Mikael Janesson made a series of troubling comments to a man he met in a bar, before inviting him back to his flat for sex. The concerned participant called the police as a result, with officers then discovering his vile stash of indecent images of children.

Janesson, now of Rose Lane in Mossley Hill, admitted possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent images, possession of extreme pornographic images, possession of prohibited images of children and supplying mephedrone. He was jailed for 20 months in 2022.

Simon Tomkins - Jailed on October 26

Simon Tomkins, 39, of Patton Close in Hood Manor, Warrington, has been jailed for two years after collecting over 10,000 indecent images (Cheshire Police)

Simon Tomkins spent a period of around 12 years downloading a vile stash of pictures and videos of children aged as young as eight being raped. The 39-year-old blames his perverted behaviour on the breakdown of a long-term relationship.

Tomkins admitted possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent images, possession of prohibited images and possession of cannabis. He was jailed for two years in October 2022.

William Roberts - Jailed on October 24

William Roberts, of Alpha Street in Bootle, repeatedly sexually a youngster over a period of around six months and told her on one occasion "I can't help it". Liverpool Crown Court the 42-year-old's crimes were discovered after he was taken to hospital due to concerns about his mental health and alcohol consumption.

Roberts, who has no previous convictions, admitted two counts of sexual assault. In October 2022, recorder Ian Harris jailed him for three years and handed him a sexual harm prevention order.

David Demeter - Jailed on October 21

David Demeter ran away scared when a teenager he sexually assaulted fought back after he groped her. He later laughed when quizzed about the incident by police.

Demeter - who has no previous convictions - admitted attempted burglary and was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault, three charges of assault and a public order offence. He was jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Carl Burger - Jailed on October 21

Carl Burger targeted a grandma who was asleep in an A&E cubical at he Royal Liverpool Hospital. He falsely told her he was a medical professional who was performing an examination. It came just over two months after he had groped another victim as she slept.

Burger admitted two counts of sexual assault. He was jailed for three years.

Alexander Park - Jailed on October 19

Alexander Park, 43, was caught out by a 'paedophile hunter sting' (Merseyside Police)

Alexander Park, of Old Chester Road, Tranmere, was targeted by a paedophile hunter group posing as decoy 13-year-old named Holly Bainbridge. Running the decoy account, the group, called STOP, received messages from Park including desires to be “washed” by the 13-year-old and to “touch her bottom”.

Park plead guilty to the sexual offence charges and was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to two years and four months in prison.

David Madeley - Jailed on October 18

David Madeley, 34, was jailed for sexual assault (Merseyside Police)

A man woke to find David Madeley, 34, performing a sex act on him after being offered somewhere to stay after a night out. Madeley of Egerton Street, Chester, admitted sexually assaulting the man.

Madeley was sentenced to 12 months in prison, handed a restraining order for five years and placed on the sexual offenders register for seven years.

Brandon Maloney - Jailed on October 18

Brandon Maloney, 23, of Castle View House, East Lane, Runcorn, has been jailed for possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children. (Cheshire Police)

Police executed a warrant at the home of Brandon Maloney, 23, of Castle View House, Runcorn, on January 25, 2022. He volunteered an additional phone and made admissions about indecent images of children.

Maloney was jailed for 28 months.

Kieran Parkinson - Jailed on October 18

Kieran Parkinson groomed a boy with promises of paying him cash, then performed a sex act on himself as the youngster watched. Police also uncovered a series of depraved Facebook chats which discussed raping and assaulting children.

Parkinson - who has no previous convictions and appeared via video link to HMP Liverpool - was found guilty of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and causing a child to watch a sexual act after a trial and admitted three counts of possession of extreme pornographic images. He was jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Callum Moon - Sentenced on October 17

Callum Moon, 22, claimed he was “not sexually attracted to children in real life” despite the fact he had downloaded more than 500 indecent images, including of young children being raped. Moon, of Van Dyke Street, Toxteth, pleaded guilty to being in possession of 582 indecent images of children, 116 of which were classed as Category A, depicting the most serious forms of abuse.

Moon was handed a two year suspended sentence and must partake in 12 one-hour mental health sessions. He was also given a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

Robert Gwilliam - Jailed on October 15

Robert Gwilliam's 12-year-old victim now goes to sleep hiding under her bed after he subjected her to years of assaults. The paedophile even took pictures of her naked, giving her cash in return.

Gwilliam, of Whitchurch Way in Runcorn, admitted six counts of sexual assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, two charges of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child and taking indecent images. He was jailed for 12 years and handed an additional year on licence.

David Campbell - Jailed on October 14

David Campbell subjected two children to a catalogue of sickening sexual abuse when they were aged as young as five. He was jailed for 17 years for his "unforgiveable" actions.

A trial at Liverpool Crown Court, prosecuted by Ben Jones, heard how the 73-year-old targeted one of the youngsters over a period lasting seven years. Campbell, of Longfield Avenue in Crosby, bought another victim dolls and told her to "come and see his guinea pigs" before assaulting her.

William Lea - Jailed on October 14

William Lea told a teenager to perform a sex act upon him and was caught because he left his contact details with her. But after being released under investigation over the incident, he went on to attempt to groom an 11-year-old.

He admitted sexual assault, exposure, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and breaching a suspended sentence order. Lea was jailed for four years and 10 months, told to pay a victim surcharge, handed a lifelong notification requirement and given a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.

Neil Morris - Jailed on October 14

Neil Morris was caught out after chatting to a '12-year-old girl' online who was in fact an undercover police officer. Morris appeared at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to eight charges, including engaging in sexual communication with a child, and possessing a hoard of 23,853 images and videos of children being sexually abused.

Morris, of Bridge Road, West Kirby, was jailed for three years and eight months, of which he will serve half before serving the rest of his sentence on licence.

Michelle Griffiths - Jailed on October 10

Michelle Griffiths previously served a 40 month sentence after she was jailed in May 2019 for facilitating and arranging the commission of a child sex offence. The 38-year-old was also given a sexual harm prevention order for life. Griffiths, was back in court in 2022 after she admitted breaching a number of the conditions of the sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Potter sentenced Griffiths to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to three charges of breaching the sexual harm prevention order. He also reminded Griffiths the sexual harm prevention order was in place for life.

Timothy Bird - Jailed on October 5

Timothy Bird 44, of Conwy Court, Castlefields, Runcorn, was sent down for 17 years at Leeds Crown Court after jurors convicted him of offences including attempted rape, sexual assault and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Bird was found guilty in August following a three-day trial.

West Yorkshire Police, who investigated Bird, said the abuse took place before 2010 while the victim was a small child. A police spokesperson said the girl reported her ordeal as an older teenager prompting an investigation by specialist child safeguarding detectives at Kirklees Police.

Thomas Beattie - Sentenced on October 6

Former soldier Thomas Beattie, 71, regularly stripped naked to stand in his window when a school bus dropped off girls outside his home. He also showed one of the girls a photograph of his penis on his mobile phone.

Beattie, of Crow Lane West, Newton-le-Willows, was found guilty of exposure and causing a child aged 15 to look at an image of sexual activity. He was sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment suspended for 18 months.

Andrew McClean - Jailed on October 4

Andrew McClean, 39, from Southport, was arrested on February 15 after messaging what he believed was a 13-year-old boy and arranging to have sex with him in a public toilet near Southport station. In fact, he was in contact with an adult member of a local ‘paedophile hunters’ group, who had set up the online profile as a decoy.

McClean was sentenced to three years in prison, and must serve half of this term before being released on licence. He was also subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Richard Owen - Jailed on October 30

Richard Owen, also known as Franklyn Stanowski, sexually abused 14 boys at churches in the North West. He met the children after they joined the choir at churches in Winsford, Knutsford and Altrincham.

n private rooms and out of sight of adults, he told them to remove their trousers to be struck on the buttocks for his own sexual gratification. The 70-year-old, from Winsford, admitted to 27 offences involving indecent assault of underage boys and was sentenced to 12 years at Chester Crown Court on Friday, September 30.

Steven Finall - Sentenced on September 27

Steven Finall - who gave his address in court as the Golborne Road pub - collected a sickening stash of child abuse pictures and videos, including vile photos of toddlers being raped. He was given a six-month imprisonment suspended for two years.

Paul Riley - Jailed on September 27

Paul Riley, of Sandy Road in Seaforth collected hundreds of sick pictures and videos of young children being raped and shared these vile materials with other perverts over the Kik messaging service. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he was jailed for two years.

Terry Yates - Sentenced on September 26

Married man Terry Yates sent naked pictures and videos to the supposed teenager in a string of lewd online chats. But, unbeknown to him, the Amazon warehouse worker was actually being ensnared in a paedophile hunter sting.

Yates admitted attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child but was spared jail, instead being handed an eight-month imprisonment suspended for two years.

Nick Clayton - Jailed on September 25

Nick Clayton, from Hoylake, held lewd Facebook chats with 131 children aged as young as 10 while working as the principal of a British international school in Iraq. Clayton admitted three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child and one of attempting to incite the sexual exploitation of a child and was jailed for ten months.

Anthony Leonard - Jailed on September 13

Anthony Leonard, 77, from Tranmere, began abusing the girl in 1986 for a number of years when she was a small child. In 2019 the victim came forward to tell the police what had happened to her.

He was charged with a total of 25 counts of indecent assault and pleaded guilty to nine of the offences, but denied the rest. On 13 September, a jury at Liverpool Crown Court found him guilty on all counts and he was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment.

Louis Howard - Jailed on September 21

Louis Howard claimed to be aged 15 as he attempted to solicit indecent images from the decoy Snapchat account. The 22-year-old also collected a sick stash of videos of children being raped and distributed such materials online.

Howard admitted attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity, attempting sexual communications with a child, two counts of distributing indecent images, possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent images and possession of prohibited images. He was jailed for 26 months.

Ian Munro - Jailed on September 16

Ian Munro, 33, of Eastwood, Windmill Hill, Runcorn, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday for sentence having pleaded guilty to a raft of charges relating to breaching his sex offender register notification requirements and the sick stash of photographs and videos on his iPhone.

A judge sentenced Munro to three years in prison to be served immediately.

Francis Logan - Sentenced on September 9

Francis Logan of Hadleigh Road, Southdene, Kirkby, pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images and three possession offences including prohibited and extreme pornographic images (Liverpool Echo)

Francis Logan used a private messaging service, called Q-Tox, under the name “Undertaker’ and with the tag line “always looking for little girls, the younger the better’. A total of 1909 indecent images of children were found on his computer.

Logan, of Hadleigh Road, Southdene, Kirkby, pleaded guilty and sentenced him to eight months imprisonment suspended for 18 months.

David Cooper - Jailed on September 6

David Cooper, from Widnes, was jailed for 27 months for attempted communication with a child and attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity. (Cheshire Police)

David Cooper, 35, of Nicholas Road, Widnes, chatted with 13-year-old 'Grace' via Kik Messenger, and tried to incite the teenager to have sex with him. But unknown to Cooper, 'Grace,' was actually an undercover police officer whose role was to find paedophiles online.

He was jailed for 27 months.

Richard Murray - Sentenced on September 2

Richard Murray, 53, was spared jail in January 2021 after being snared by multiple paedophile hunter groups. Murray thought he had been sending obscene messages to a child and showed his naked body to a ‘14-year-old girl’, who was actually an adult, posing as the girl on Facebook.

He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and forced to complete 20 Rehabilitation Activity Requirements.

Andrew Smoggie - Jailed in January 2023

Andrew Smoggie - also previously known as Andrew Mackie, 51, of Thelwall Lane, Warrington, was caught acting "suspiciously" around women during Manchester Pride on Peter Street in the city. When police checked his phone they found hundreds of pictures of women and they suspected many were taken at Pride.

Smoggie was jailed for two years and four months after he admitted two breaches of the SHPO and a breach of his suspended prison sentence.

Vicki Bevan - Jailed on May 25, 2022

Bevan was sent down at Liverpool Crown Court in May for what the CPS described as the “systematic abuse” of a girl under the age of 10 over a period of two years. Bevan was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 10 years at Liverpool Crown Court after admitting 34 sexual offences, having been seen laughing in the dock at a previous hearing.

William Rumsby - Jailed on August 24

William Rumsby accessed the dark web in order to collect a stash of indecent images of children for the second time and installed a multitude of software on his tablet computer in a bid to cover his tracks. He was jailed for 20 months.

Kenneth Kavanagh - Jailed on August 23

Kenneth Kavanagh raped a seven-year-old boy and sexually assaulted a girl when she was aged as young as six. He was jailed for 20 years.

Phil Hudson - Jailed on August 15

Phil Hudson, 33, sent his partner a video of himself performing a sex act in front of a young girl said "what have I done" as police stormed his home. He was jailed for 27 months.

Andrew Holland was jailed after locking a 14-year-old in his attic and indecently assaulting her. Holland was jailed for five years and told to sign the sex offenders' register for life, as well as being handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Oliver Roughley, 24, of Bailey Way in St Helens, subjected his seven-year-old victim to a "campaign of rape" over the course of three years, leading to the youngster attempting suicide. The predator was jailed for 21 years.

Jamie Sharkey - Sentenced on August 9
