83p razor 'used in the Second World War' said to give the smoothest Summer shave without cuts

Shoppers are ditching more expensive razors for an 83p razor similar to those used back in the World War that gives a 'best shave' with 'no cuts'. Some of those who have tried the razor say it gives 'the best shave' they've had, and claim they will continue to use it over more expensive methods.

The King C. Gillette Double Edge Safety Razor & 25 Blades set usually costs £25. But it has been reduced to a much more purse-friendly price of £12.50 in the latest sale from Gillette - working out at just 83p a blade.

The King C. Gillette Double Edge Safety Razor has built up a loyal fanbase. Now it is converting people back to the more 'traditional' way of shaving.

Coming in completely plastic free packaging, the solid metal razor and accompanying blade are based on the original razor that was launched by Gillette's founder King C. Gillette over a century ago. With the brand now being a household name it's clear they've been onto something for all this time.

The razor blades are designed with durability in mind, they're made from a thin sheet of high-quality stainless steel coated with platinum. Not only that but they're covered in a special anti-friction coating for greater comfort. Each blade has two cutting edges which allows it to be used in all directions.

While the double edge safety razors come across as more of a 'retro shave' than most on the market, it seems that they're a classic for a reason with them being called the 'best shave'.

One shopper wrote: "Best shave I have had and I have tried many a razors which not only cost a small fortune but always left me with razor burns after a shave. Also on a plus side no plastic and the weight and feel is perfect as it just glides across the skin with no tugging or pulling."

A second penned: "Have always used a cartridge razor, but for some time have been wanting to try a double edge safety razor. Was put off for fear of cutting myself. Finally decided to give the King C Gillette a try. After just one shave I am totally converted! Took the first shave very slowly and carefully, no nicks or cuts and the best shave ever. Will not be going back to the cartridge razor anytime soon."

A third wrote: "Never used one before always used the Plastic stuff we get so gave this ago, boy its a whopper best shave I have ever had and not difficult to use, I will be using these for the foreseeable future."

Somebody else wrote: "I haven’t used one of these razors for years so I thought I’d give it a try. It performs well and now I’m hooked wondering why I gave it up. Really smooth shave easy to clean and back in frontline use."

"My Father had this type of razor during the Second World War and used it virtually until the day he died in 2015 aged 91. I saw this and thought that I should give it a go, especially at the offer price. Glad I did, because in comparison to the disposable razors (which are getting very expensive now), the performance was very superior. Can't see me going back ever," penned another five-star reviewer.

Somebody else wrote: "I really like this razor, it is a good weight, and gives me a nice close shave. The handle really adds to the balance of the razor, and enhances the Shaving experience."

There are other handles and refills available on the market, such as the currently half price Wilkinson Sword Intuition Rose Gold Handle & 10 Refills over on Boots, however these do not have Gillette's patented technology.
