8 Real Madrid stars transfer listed including Marco Asensio as part of ruthless overhaul

Marco Asensio leads a list of eight Real Madrid players who could leave the club this summer despite a glut of exits already.

The clear-out at Real Madrid has already begun in the aftermath of the team defeating Liverpool in the Champions League final. The remarkable European success came within a month of Real Madrid securing their 35th La Liga title with four rounds of action remaining as they breezed home to a comfortable league triumph.

Club captain Marcelo has said his goodbyes to the club before Gareth Bale's exit was confirmed ahead of his move to Los Angeles FC. Isco has also left the club as a free agent while striker Luka Jovic has moved to Fiorentina in a deal that did not include a fee.

A report in Marca now outlines how Asensio – into the final year of his contract in the Spanish capital – will not have his current deal renewed at the club and there is no plan to increase his game-time next season. There is no push for the Spain international to leave the club as things stand but they would not stand in his way due to his precarious situation.

Earlier this season, Asensio admitted that he was less than happy with his lack of continuity at the club. He then gave an update on his future in June in which he admitted he wanted to play more and that this was an "important moment for an important decision" over his future.

Asensio subsequently said: "I have one year left on my contract and I have three possibilities, after the international break we will talk." The three future options to which he refers are the following: renew his contract, stay at Real Madrid until the summer of 2023 and then leave for free at the end of the contract or seek an exit this summer for a fee.

Asensio joined Madrid in 2014 but spent his first two seasons at the club on loan at Mallorca and Espanyol, meaning that he was not a member of the first-team squad in Ancelotti's initial spell in the dugout.

Yet Asensio is not the only player who appears to have no long-term future at Madrid, former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos is in a similar contractual situation and will now have his stay at the club renewed. The central midfielder is pushing for a return to his former club Real Betis this summer, although they cannot afford his wage demands as things stand.

Defenders Jesus Vallejo and Alvaro Odriozola have also been made available to other clubs, while Real Madrid will listen to offers for strikers Mariano Diaz and Borja Mayoral, the latter of whom has received offers from Celta Vigo and Getafe. Furthermore, Takefusa Kubo is poised to join Real Sociedad while 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder Reinier Jesus will be made available for a move.
