The best way to watch the football (if you can't make it to the actual game itself) is in a pub, beverage in hand, cheering with a bunch of strangers. There aren't many euphoric moments where it feels like the nation comes together, but a big football game is one of them, and on Sunday, Bristolians may just see England win big at the Women's Euros.
Bristol's known for its thriving pub scene, so you can expect a stellar atmosphere across the city. Whether you want an al fresco viewing platform from a bustling pub garden, or whether great pub grub and a big screen is your priority, there are many watering holes across the city to soak up the Euros spirit.
So whether we end up celebrating (or commiserating) there's a beverage in these venues perfect for either occasion. Here are eight places to watch the final on Sunday:
The White Harte
Location: Park Row, BS1
The White Harte has the sociable among us in mind, with scrumptious food sharers and pre-bookable food and drink packages on offer for the whole crew this Women's Euros final weekend. Punters don't even have to go to the bar, and there are big screens so you don't miss a precious moment of the game.
The Royal Oak
Location: Gloucester Road, BS7
A favourite amongst sports fans in Bristol, The Royal Oak's HD screens are well utilised come major tournaments. If footy and a bit of Vit D are a match made in heaven for you, then The Royal Oak serves up a beer garden, covered patio and plenty of inside space to watch the game.
There are multiple large screens both inside and outside so you won't miss out. And proper pub grub completes the hat trick, as this boozer offers up fish and chips, steak and more.
Ashton Gate's Independence Sports Bar
Location: Bedminster, BS3
Almost as good as being pitch-side, Ashton Gate Stadium offers punters a slice of Wembley by welcoming people through its doors for the Women's Euros final. You can arrive at Ashton Gate an hour before kick off to indulge in food and drink before the big game.
Claimed to be the biggest indoor pub screen in the UK, there's no missing the action at Ashton Gate. Tables and standing spots are available for what's set to be a bustling evening in BS3.
King Street Brewhouse
Location: King Street, BS1
If you don't want just a pub full of people hyped up for the Euros, and you want an entire street, head on down to Welsh Back in the city centre. King Street Brewhouse is the place to be on King Street, offering affordable beverages, pizzas, hotdogs, burgers and all the good stuff. There is availability for walk-ins at this tap room. With beer its speciality, the pub also serves up a whole host of other beverages for punters to enjoy.
The Cider Press
Location: Gloucester Road, BS7
From beer, to cider: and we're talking over 30 on draught. The Cider Press also offers up eight big screens to catch the football, so this venue doesn't do things by halves.
Walkabout
Location: Corn Street, BS1
Popular cheap and cheerful chain, Walkabout, located on historic Corn Street, offers up plenty for punters this weekend. The venue's burger and drink offer costs just £7.50, so you can enjoy the football on a budget.
Racks Bar and Kitchen
Location: Clifton, BS8
The screens hit the double figures at Racks, a popular venue tucked away on St Paul's Road in Clifton. Located just off the main stretch of Whiteladies Road, it's a classy affair, with a heated outdoor patio to boot.
Steam
Location: Clifton, BS8
Tucked away behind Clifton Down Shopping Centre and train station, Steam is a favourite with locals and University of Bristol students alike. Notably a beer hall with an alfresco terrace, it's one of the quirkiest venues in the city.
You can find moon tables and stretch tents outside, and quirky lighting and industrial decor inside. There's even a big old bus outside that's got a new life as a group bookings table.
