As the weather gets warmer it can be hard finding ways to keep the kids amused at home without it feeling stuffy, and not everyone has a park on their doorstep. A range of activities will be taking place across the county next week to keep children busy, in a range of locations for a range of prices.
Here are some of the exciting half term activities that you might want to try out.
Rufford Abbey, Ollerton
A knights vs pirates trail has been organised at Rufford Abbey, where visitors can choose their side before embarking on an adventure to save the kingdom of Ye Olde Rufford Abbey. White Post Farm will also be returning to Rufford Abbey and bringing with them a selection of fluffy and scaly visitors.
A real princess will also be joining guests for a delicious breakfast at Lord Savile’s Kitchen on Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd June. The trail and animal visit costs £2.50 per person, whereas the kitchen experience is £15.95 per person.
Green's Windmill, Sneinton
Over the half term holidays there is plenty to do at Green's Windmill. On Thursday, June 1, children will be learning how to make cheese straws. All of the ingredients are supplied, and there will be six sessions throughout the day costing £4 per child.
On Friday, June 2, there will be a games day with skittles, the soma cube, giant connect 4 and giant snakes and ladders, and ping-pong. This is a free event lasting from 10am until 4pm, but donations are welcome.
There will also be cornbread cupcake baking on Saturday, June 3. Sessions cost £4 per child and all the ingredients are supplied, allowing children the chance to bake their own cornbread cupcakes.

You can delve into object theatre at Nottingham Contemporary, exploring everyday items to create a mix of imaginary tales. Sessions will take place on Tuesday, May 30 until Friday, June 1, and spaces are limited so pre-booking is advised.
InspiREAD 2023, all libraries in Nottinghamshire
Inspire’s primary book award is back, and librarians across the county have carefully selected the best books published in the last year, across three categories: picture books, shorter books, and longer novels. Children can now help decide the winner by voting for their favourites.
Pick up copies of shortlisted books at your local library or online at a discount with nottinghambooks.co.uk. You can vote in one, two, or all three categories, and the final winner in each category will be announced at the Inspire Awards evening on 29 June 2023.
