8 amazing football pitches from skyscraper rooftops to floating stadiums

The world is filled with some weird and wonderful places - and some are the setting for football pitches.

In fact, from pitches on skyscraper rooftops to stadiums right by volcanoes, there are some pretty incredible football pitches to be found.

Now the team at Jetcost.co.uk has unveiled eight of the most spectacular ones you won't want to miss, and we can't decide which one we'd want to visit first.

Alana Gomez, spokesperson for JetCost, said: "We’ve had a truly remarkable football season, and although the England men’s year came to an end with a somewhat disappointing third in the Nation’s League, the Lionesses are well into a promising World Cup campaign.

"This year’s Women’s World Cup has been the most anticipated one yet, so we thought we’d celebrate by looking at the most idyllic football pitches from around the world."

We take a look at their top eight picks and why they need to be on your radar...

1. Adidas Futsal Park, Tokyo

The rooftop of a department store doesn't sound like your typical location for a football pitch, but that's exactly where the Adidas Futsal Park is located.

Sitting on top of the Tokyo Toyoku store, the pitch offers some pretty incredible views of the skyline, as well as the nearby Shibuya Crossing believed to be the busiest intersection in the world.

Fancy a game? You can actually book out the pitch with prices starting from approximately £38 per hour in quieter seasons.

2. The Float @ Marina Bay, Singapore

Crowds can expect some pretty epic views of the Singapore skyline when watching games on this quirky floating pitch, which is located on the waters of Marina Bay.

The stadium can hold up to 30,000 people, while the pitch itself is the world's largest floating stage.

3. Henningsvær Stadion, Norway

This small fishing village is located on several small islands off the coast of Norway, and boasts a population of less than 500 people.

The football field is a pretty eye-catching spot amidst all of the landscape - we think it's one of the most beautiful stadium surroundings we've seen!

The pitch is currently managed by Henningsvaer IL soccer club.

4. Victoria Stadium, Gibraltar

Home to all of the teams in the Gibraltar Football League, spectators won't just enjoy great views of the games, but of the spectacular Gibraltar Rock too, which stands tall in the background.

5. Eiði Stadium, Faroe Islands

This football ground is tucked away amidst the Faroe Islands' breathtaking landscapes, where there is a population of less than 700 people.

Sometimes of course during games, footballs could go astray and end up in the sea - but there is reportedly a person waiting in a boat nearby whose job it is to collect the ball and bring it back!

Nowadays the pitch is used as a campsite, which can hold up to 60 camper vans and 10 tents. Fancy a stay? You can find out more on the official website .

6. Ottmar Hitzfeld Stadium, Switzerland

Located 2,000 feet above sea level, Ottmar Hitzfeld Stadium is the highest stadium in Europe.

The pitch isn't full size, mind, and the grass is artificial but the jaw-dropping views of the Alps are very, very real.

7. Tasiilaq Stadium, Greenland

Built in 1960, this football pitch is the largest piece of flattened land in the area and can hold up to 2,000 people.

FIFA 2-star artificial turf was installed back in July 2016 and while it's used predominantly for football it also doubles up as an entertainment venue.

8. Hásteinsvöllur, Iceland

Located in the Icelandic town of Vestmannaeyjar, this football pitch and stadium has the capacity for up to 2,834 people.

The famous Eldfell volcano sits about a mile away and famously erupted back in 1973.
