Kalaburagi Police on Wednesday seized 76 quintals of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice which was being illegally transported in a lorry near Ratakal village in Chincholi taluk.
According to information made available, a police team acting on a tip-off about movement of a vehicle carrying rice rushed to the spot and intercepted it. The police seized 152 bags of rice weighing 76 quintals worth ₹1.74 lakh.
The seized stock has been sent to Karnataka Food and Supplies Corporation godown. The police have taken up investigation.
