They call it Golf’s Longest Day for a reason.
It’s June 5, the day when hundreds of golfers hoping to qualify for the U.S. Open by playing 36 holes at courses around the country. Dreams of playing a major alongside golf’s best players are either dashed or fulfilled, and for some PGA Tour — and LIV — vets, it’s a chance to play in a major they otherwise wouldn’t qualify for.
So let’s review some of the big names and interesting stories of players trying to qualify for the tournament that will take place at Los Angeles Country Club in a couple of weeks:
1
Jaden Soong

Soong is just 13 years old. He already advanced to the final stage and will attempt to become the youngest player to qualify.
2
Michael Block

The big story of the PGA pro who lit it up at the PGA Championship could add another chapter to his unreal tale.
3
Brendan Steele

The LIV Golf player is hoping for a spot.
4
Cameron Kuchar

The name should sound familiar: That’s Matt Kuchar’s son.
5
Marc Leishman

Another LIV vet who’s trying to get in.
6
Harold Varner III

Another LIVer.
7
Cameron Champ

The pro has won three times on the PGA Tour.
