After about a month away from the facility, the Eagles will have completed two training camp practices ahead of their preseason debut against the Ravens.
Philadelphia is loaded at just about every position.
As the roster quickly goes from 90 players down to 53, we’ve identified several guys who are on the hot seat and need to proceed throughout camp with urgency.
With the roster now intact, here are seven veterans who need to continue having a strong training camp.
Deon Cain
• Wide receiver Deon Cain may have just signed with the team before the first practice this summer … but don’t forget that he knows this system having spent time here before. He has stepped in and is making plays right away. Cain caught two passes in a row in 7-on-7 (one on a mesh route where he got open underneath and another on a slant route. Cain also caught a ball from Mariota in an earlier team drill where he made a nice catch in traffic (Mariota floated the ball over the linebacker on a nice play-action touch pass).
Shaun Bradley
Bradley has always been productive on special teams and a strong summer could land him significant snaps in Week 1.
Nicholas Morrow
Morrow opened practice with the first-team defense but has spent time rotating with Christian Elliss.
Elliss is rising up the depth chart and could make things interesting.
Kyron Johnson
After spending time at the off-ball linebacker spot in the spring, Kyron Johnson was back as a Sam linebacker and he’ll need a strong training camp to survive.
Marlon Tuipulotu
Tuipulotu had a strong camp in 2022, but a torn meniscus ended his season after Week 9, with the former USC defender playing 38 percent of the defensive snaps.
He’s in a deep position group, but there’s potential.
Davioin Taylor
The 2020 third-rounder spent the entire 2022 season on the practice squad and will once again be fighting for a roster spot.
Taylor has some familiarity with Sean Desai and could use a fresh start.
Josiah Scott
Scott provides depth in the slot and at the safety position, but has made upgrades at the position and that includes playing Zech McPhearson inside.
Greg Ward
After leading the team in receptions in 2020, Ward saw his role diminished as the team upgraded the wide receiver position with DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown.
Ward spent 2022 on the practice squad and he’ll need a continued breakout perforamnce to make the roster.
