There were 62 more Covid-19 fatalities and 7,705 confirmed new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Friday.
Thursday’s figures did not include 5,288 positive results from antigen tests on Thursday. This would raise the total to 12,993.
This compared with the 54 coronavirus-related fatalities and 9,790 confirmed new cases reported the previous day.
As of midnight Thursday, a total of 97,672 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 101,281 the previous day), including 29,275 in hospitals (down from 31,227). Of the remainder 11,987 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (up from 10,832) and 56,033 in home/community isolation (down from 58,794).
Of those in hospital, 1,622 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (down from 1,638) and 778 dependent on ventilators (up from 776).
Of the seriously ill patients, Bangkok had the most, 131, followed by 91 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 63 in Kanchanaburi, 62 in Ubon Ratchathani and 56 in Udon Thani.
The 24-hour period also saw 11,252 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
According to the CCSA, the 62 people who died were aged from six to 99 years and included two foreigners, from Myanmar and China.
Bangkok reported eight coronavirus-related deaths and there were three in the adjacent provinces of Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan.
Other central plains provinces further from the capital reported 16 deaths - five in Chon Buri, three in Trat, two each in Sa Kaeo and Kanchanaburi and one each in Uthai Thani, Samut Songkhram, Ayutthaya and Nakhon Nayok.
The North reported 13 deaths - three in Lampang, two each in Chiang Mai, Sukhothai and Phayao and one each in Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Phetchabun and Mae Hong Son.
The Northeast saw 20 fatalities - six each in Nakhon Ratchasima and Si Sa Ket, four in Udon Thani and one each in Buri Ram, Kalasin, Sakon Nakhon and Bung Kan.
The South had two covid deaths, in Songkhla and Surat Thani.
There were 7,680 confirmed new cases in the general population, 15 among prison inmates and 10 imported.
Of the new infections in the general population, 7,669 were confirmed at hospitals and 11 via mass testing.
Bangkok continued to report the most daily cases at 2,174, followed by 294 in Buri Ram, 268 in Samut Prakan, 246 in Si Sa Ket, 224 in Khon Kaen, 203 in Chon Buri, 119 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 185 in Roi Et, 176 in Surin and 155 in Ubon Ratchathani.
The 10 imported cases came from Cambodia.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,308,319 Covid-19 cases reported, including 2,084,884 this year, with 4,181,671 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 28,976 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 7,278 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 556,043 in 24 hours to 515.89 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 2,395 to 6.27 million.
The United States had the most cases at 83.43 million, up 66,611, and the most deaths at 1.02 million, up 225.
