7,139 new Covid cases, 13 more deaths

There were 13 more Covid-19 fatalities and 7,139 new cases recorded the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Monday morning.

This compared with the 13 coronavirus-related fatalities and 7,686 new cases reported on Sunday morning.

The 13 new fatalities were aged 40 to 91 years.

In the central plain, there was one each in Bangkok, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan and two in Chon Buri.

The Northeast had two fatalities, both in Nong Khai. The South reported two more deaths, in Chumphon and Phatthalung. The North saw four fatalities, all in Chiang Mai.

There were 6,924 new cases in the general population, 20 among prison inmates and 195 imported cases.

Of the local Covid-19 infections, 6,914 were confirmed at hospitals and 10 via mass testing.

Bangkok still had the most new cases at 1,130, followed by 549 in Samut Prakan, 369 in Phuket, 368 in Nonthaburi, 316 in Chon Buri, 266 in Pathum Thani, 249 in Khon Kaen, 180 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 155 in Lop Buri and 138 in Samut Sakhon.

The 195 imported cases included 36 from Russia, 16 each from Mongolia and Germany, 11 from Ukraine and 10 from Cambodia.

On Sunday 82,485 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 550 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation and 114 dependent on ventilators.

The 24-hour period also saw 8,100 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 2,384,639 Covid-19 cases, including 161,204 cases this year, with 2,280,109 complete recoveries to date.

The death toll stood at 22,045 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 347 so far this year.

The kingdom’s 24-hour high of Covid-related fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 18, 2021.

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 2.17 million in 24 hours to 351.99 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 4,627 to 5.61 million.

The United States had the most cases at 71.92 million, up 197,374, and the most deaths at 889,197, up 574.
