A new survey from LloydsPharmacy Online Doctor has revealed that 69% of men aged 25 - 75 have experienced erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives, and 62% of those who’ve suffered from it blame the pandemic for their experience. Three in five men who have erectile dysfunction believe that Covid is the main cause.
Although a high percentage of men experience ED, over 50% of the survey’s respondents were unaware that 1 in 5 men are affected by the disorder. A further 32% of respondents weren’t aware of the treatments that are available for ED and 18% didn’t know that ED was treatable at all.
The survey also revealed that 54% of men felt ED affected their sex life and intimacy and 35% felt it caused avoidance of new sexual partners. Three in 10 men also said that ED has negatively impacted their mental health.
32% of respondents revealed that they feel embarrassed about speaking to a medical professional about ED and as a result, a whopping 42% never have spoken to a doctor about their problem. In fact, 30% haven’t even spoken to their partners about the issue.
For those not confident enough to talk to a doctor about their symptoms in person, an online consultation can break down the barrier, and make you feel less embarrassed about sharing your personal information.
