Poor Will Levis.
The Kentucky QB known for throwing some mayo in his coffee sat in the 2023 NFL Draft green room in Kansas City. And sat. And sat some more.
Ultimately, he was one of the big names still left there and could end up being a bargain for a QB-needy team, even though there are concerns about accuracy and reports of a toe injury that could require surgery.
But there’s the second and third rounds coming Friday night. Teams that didn’t want to use a first-rounder on him could view him as a project. Let’s run through some ideas:
1
Los Angeles Rams

Look: Levis might have his flaws. But the Rams need a QB of the future — although maybe they tank and hold out hope for USC’s Caleb Williams — and they’re sitting there at No. 5 in the second round. Couldn’t Sean McVay cure what ails Levis? Hmm.
2
Detroit Lions

The Lions have a bajillion second-rounders (fine, it’s three). Jared Goff isn’t their long-term answer. Grab Levis and you’ve got two other picks to use to fill out a roster that can compete for a postseason spot. It’s that easy.
3
Las Vegas Raiders

Am I a little biased in thinking this is a very Raiders-y move? Yes. But I could see Josh McDaniels seeing something others don’t.
4
Tennessee Titans

Ryan Tannehill feels as good as gone. Malik Willis doesn’t feel like the answer. The Titans can let Levis drop right to them and that wouldn’t be a bad move.
5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Are we sure the Bucs are going to be happy going into 2023 with Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask in the QB room?
6
New England Patriots

All I’m saying is: If there’s all this buzz about the Pats being unhappy with Mac Jones … wouldn’t this make sense?
