6 takeaways from Titans’ 2023 schedule release

The Tennessee Titans released their schedule for the 2023 season and there were some notable takeaways from it after perusing the official 17-game slate.

Included in the release was the team’s three preseason games, which come on the road against the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, and at home versus the New England Patriots.

In case you missed it, here’s a look at the regular-season schedule:

Week 1: at New Orleans Saints

Week 2: vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Week 3: at Cleveand Browns

Week 4: vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Week 5: at Indianapolis Colts

Week 6: vs. Baltimore Ravens (London)

Week 7: BYE

Week 8: vs. Atlanta Falcons

Week 9: at Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 10: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 11: at Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 12: vs. Carolina Panthers

Week 13: vs. Indianapolis Colts

Week 14: at Miami Dolphins

Week 15: vs. Houston Texans

Week 16: vs. Seattle Seahawks

Week 17: at Houston Texans

Week 18: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Here’s a look at the biggest takeaways from Tennessee’s 17-game slate.

Two prime-time games

Syndication: Palm Beach Post

After having four prime-time contests in 2022, the Titans are down to just two this year, with a Week 9 game against the Steelers on Thursday night, and a Week 14 contest versus Miami. Both games are on the road, also.

Four home games in five weeks

Griffin Zetterberg-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans had back-to-back home games just once in 2022 but will enjoy multiple games in a row in Nashville twice over the course of 2023.

And those stretches will come right on top of each other, with Tennessee playing four home games in five weeks between Weeks 12-16. Sandwiched in between is the Thursday night road game against Miami.

One stretch of multiple road games in a row

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans have one stretch of multiple road games in a row this year, down from two last year. However, Tennessee’s three road games in a row, which come from Weeks 9-11, are the first trio of consecutive road games in a season for the franchise since 2013, per John Glennon of Nashville Post.

Bye week after London game

Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union

The Titans chose to have their bye in Week 7, which comes on the heels of the London game against the Ravens. This will give the players extra time to get re-situated back in the states after a long journey across the pond.

Two games vs. Texans in three weeks

Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

As has been the norm in recent years, the Titans will play a division rival twice in a short span, with Tennessee meeting Houston for two games in three weeks (Weeks 15 and 17).

The Titans last played a pair of games in three weeks against Houston in 2019 (Weeks 15 and 17). They also did so against the Colts in 2020 (Weeks 10 and 12), while playing two games in four weeks versus Indy in 2022 (Weeks 4 and 7).

Season finale vs. Jaguars

Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union

The Titans close out their season against the AFC South favorite, the Jaguars. Of course, there’s a chance this game is for the division, but I wouldn’t count on it.
