6 sports stars playing in LIV Golf pro-am including Harry Maguire and James Milner

A whole host of huge sporting names took to the famous Valderrama Club to show off their golfing talents during the LIV Andalucia pro-am on Wednesday.

LIV Golf has made its trip to Mainland Europe for the very first time this week, as Valderrama - a course synonymous with the DP World Tour - hosts the breakaway circuit. The event is a highly anticipated one, with LIV returning to action for the first time since it was announced they would work in unison with their PGA Tour rivals earlier this month.

Before the 54-hole action kicks off on Friday, the Saudi-backed series hosted its usual pro-am event, where a number of the league's rebel players teed it up alongside a group of fellow sports stars and celebrities.

This week's tournament warm-up contained a whole host of big Premier League names both past and present.

Amongst those competing was Manchester United captain and England international Harry Maguire. Maguire endured a difficult campaign at Old Trafford, but is seemingly enjoying his time away from the football pitch by turning his hand to golf.

The United star documented his day on Instagram, and was joined by former Open champion and sacked European Ryder Cup captain Henrik Stenson for his round. And Maguire was joined in the field by a Premier League rival and fellow England international in James Milner.

Milner recently saw his Liverpool career come to an end, after spending eight years at Anfield, winning one Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup during his time in Merseyside. Following the end of the 2023/24 season, Milner departed the club and has since joined Brighton.

Ahead of his move to the South coast, the three-time Premier League champion jetted out to Andalucia to show off his skills around Valderrama. Milner is known to be a fairly handy golfer, donning an impressive handicap of 7.4.

Also out in the field is another Premier League champion in Marcos Alonso. The left-back, who now plays his football with FC Barcelona, was joined by fellow countryman and LIV Bangkok champion Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra.

Fellow Spanish international and former Chelsea star Alvaro Morata was also teeing it up at Valderrama. Morata had the luxury of joining Sergio Garcia in the pro-am, a man who knows the famous course better than most having won there three times during his career.

Along with Morata and co, there was also NFL representation in the competition too. Former wide receiver Donté Stallworth was showing took to the famous Spanish fairways, and his joined by ex-New Orleans Saints man Reggie Bush.
