New photos of Lady Gaga in character as Harley Quinn on a New York set for Joker: Folie à Deux — which translates to “madness for two” — emerged Saturday, and the musician and actress looks stunning in red with haunting clown makeup.
Gaga is taking on the villainous role in the sequel to the 2019 film, Joker, which starred Joaquin Phoenix — who took home the Oscar for Best Actor as the title character — and was directed by Todd Phillips. Both have reprised their roles for the next installment. However, as Variety notes: “The ‘Joker’ sequel will not play a role in the narrative continuity of other upcoming DC films.”

While shooting a scene in New York, photographers captured moments from the performance, as Gaga’s Harley Quinn is outside a courthouse. With a Gotham police escort, she passing through protestors and supporters who are holding signs like “Free Joker,” “Joker Marry Me” and “No Justice, Not Guilty, Not Joking.” And the clown vibes are, of course, very present in this moment.
Per IMDB, the film is expected to be released in October 2024.
