6 Major Bombshells Revealed In Abbie Chatfield’s Interview With The Bachelor Babe Matt Agnew

This week Abbie Chatfield sat down with her former flame on The Bachelor, Dr. Matt Agnew in a special two-part episode of her podcast It’s A Lot to unpack what really went down during their reality TV romance.

All the revelations from Abbie Chatfield’s podcast with Dr. Matt Agnew

From mean girl contestants and villain edits, to what Matt thinks of Abbie’s current relationship, the pair get into a LOT of tea on the podcast.

Let’s dive in.

The Gemini clip: a cosmic misunderstanding

The pair jumped straight into discussing the infamous “I’m a Gemini” clip that went viral, confirming that the clip was taken out completely of context.

Abbie asks, “Can we just confirm now that that was edited?”

Matt jumps in to say, “100 per cent. And I went out and I’ve been saying that since the first interviews, I was coming out and clarifying that this was a joke that you were winding me up. It landed perfectly and we had a good laugh about it.”

Apparently the iconic line has followed Matt, with him chiming in, “I’m on dating apps and the amount that the opening line is ‘Oh, by the way, I’m a Leo. Oh, by the way. I’m a …’ like that’s their opener and I’m like, ‘Oh gee, that’s original. I’ve never had someone do that before!’”

The villain edit: the real story behind the drama

Unfortunately for Abbie, she did in fact get the villain edit on her season of The Bachelor. She said, “All these things that I was telling these girls was then getting used. Like I told them I had an abortion, then it was ‘Abbie doesn’t want kids’. That was the conclusion from it. You know what I mean?”

Abbie even opened up about the pressure she felt from the other contestants, “You know the girls [tried] to force me to tell you that I was bisexual. Did I tell you this?”

Matt did not take the break-up lightly

When it came to their on-air break-up, Matt admitted it was tough for both of them. “It was a shit experience,” he said, and honestly, who can blame him? That breakup on top of a random rock in South Africa legitimately makes my heart ache every time I think about it.

He continues, “It’s an intense situation for all parties I think. And having to do that and like literally stand there on camera knowing that I’m about to really hurt someone that I care about was a shit thing.”

Catching up after the break up

Fast forward six months, and they finally caught up to clear the air — which is the most mature move from exes, I could never.

Abbie thought Matt hated her, which is a classic case of reality TV miscommunication. Matt replied, “I hate that you had to carry that idea. There was never any animosity from my side.”

To anyone who held out hope for the two rekindling after the show, you’re out luck. They quite literally laughed about how nothing romantic happened off-camera, with Abbie joking that the whole conspiracy was very “funny”.

Matt and Abbie are still very much in touch

In the second episode of the two-part series, Matt gets into his new kids book, Is My Phone Reading My Mind. The book looks into “the real facts about artificial intelligence“.

It’s clear that the exes are on very good terms, with Abbie gushing, “The thing that everyone loves currently but also loved about Matt on The Bachelor is that if you’ve got a question about science, literally anything. He has an amazing way of explaining it like you’re a kid.”

Abbie keeps in touch with Matt for his science knowledge, sharing: “Matt has an amazing way of explaining. I think one time I texted you and I was like ‘What’s wind‘?”

What does Matt think of Abbie’s current boyfriend?

Matt has apparently met Abbie’s current boyfriend Adam Hyde, one-half of the Aussie electro duo Peking Duk. The former Bachelor was honestly so sweet when he said, “I’ve never felt less cool because this is like the coolest person I’ve ever met.” I’d feel the same exact way about meeting someone who’s dating Abbie Chatfield TBH.

Adam apparently felt the bromance vibes too and deemed Matt “a sick cunt” which according to Abbie is the highest compliment you can receive from her beau.

So there you have it. Abbie and Matt’s reunion was incredibly wholesome and has given me hope that one day I too will have a chat with my ex on a podcast, but I can’t promise I’ll be as nice.
