6 longest win streaks in Jaguars history

The Jacksonville Jaguars started the 2023 season with a win followed by back-to-back losses. At 1-2, there were some serious concerns about the team’s sputtering start relative to lofty expectations.

Then the Jaguars snapped off five straight wins before their Week 9 bye to right the ship.

Not only has the string of wins pushed the Jaguars to the top of the AFC, it already ranks as one of the longest streaks in franchise history.

Here are all six times the Jaguars have won at least four games in a row:

The 1999 Jaguars were a powerhouse. After losing in their last game of September, Jacksonville didn’t drop another one until just after Christmas. The Jaguars won by double-digits in eight of their 11 wins during the streak.

In just the second year of the Jaguars’ existence, the team slogged its way through a 4-7 start to the year before catching fire late. A streak of five wins to end the year got Jacksonville in the playoffs and two more wins earned the team a spot in the AFC Championship where the Cinderella run ended.

In Doug Pederson’s first season as head coach, the Jaguars limped out to a 4-8 record before catching fire. Jacksonville won its last five to steal the AFC South crown then beat the Chargers in a playoff thriller.

This year’s Jaguars have found their footing after a shaky start. Not only has the team won five in a row, it did so amid a two-game stretch in London, a home game after adjusting to the time change, a short week in New Orleans, and a rainy day in Pittsburgh.

The 2005 Jaguars finished 12-4 despite losing quarterback Byron Leftwich for a stretch in the middle of the year. The team was on a three-game win streak when it was forced to turn to David Garrard in the first quarter of their attempt to get a fourth win in a row. Garrard got the job done and helped extend the streak to five a week later.

5 straight wins (1998)

With rookie Fred Taylor added to the mix, the 1998 Jaguars were beginning to resemble the 1999 version that finished 14-2. Jacksonville opened 1998 with a 5-0 start.
