6 49ers props we love for Super Bowl LVIII

One of the most entertaining angles of the Super Bowl is the betting aspect of the biggest game of the season.

From different player performance bets to first-quarter scores to Gatorade colors and coin tosses, there’s essentially unlimited action when it comes to the Super Bowl.

Before the big game on Sunday in Las Vegas, here’s a look at six different prop bets that standout for the 49ers.

Christian McCaffrey to score a first half TD (+110)

Christian McCaffrey scoring a touchdown is one of the most heavily favored bets in the Super Bowl at -225, which makes sense for a player who finished the season with 21 total touchdowns.

However, McCaffrey to score a touchdown in the first half shifts to +110. Out of his 21 total touchdowns, 15 have come in the first half, 11 on the ground and four through the air.

Getting a touchdown machine like McCaffrey in a scoring situation at plus odds seems too good to be true, even if it’s only in the first half.

Christian McCaffrey over 18.5 rushing attempts (-135)

For multiple reasons, It won’t be a surprise if Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers will lean on their rushing attack early and often against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Shanahan will likely want to keep the ball out of the hands of Patrick Mahomes while softening Steve Spagnulo’s tough defense with a heavy dose of newly crowned Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey.

Throughout the season, when the 49ers have put the ball in McCaffrey’s hands over 18.5 times, good things have happened. The 49ers are 7-0 this season when McCaffrey touches the ball over 18.5 times. In four of those games, the 49ers have scored 30 or more points.

Travis Kelce & George Kittle combined over 10.5 receptions (-150)

Taking away the quarterbacks, this game could be defined as the tight end Super Bowl. Travis Kelce and George Kittle, arguably the two best tight ends in the NFL, are set to face off in the Super Bowl for the second time.

The last time the pair of tight ends matched up in the Super Bowl, they combined for 10 catches, six for Kelce and four for Kittle. Fast forward four years, and things might have changed enough to surge past their combined prop total of 10.5 receptions.

While Kittle has developed into Brock Purdy’s safety net, Kelce has surged into Patrick Mahomes’ clear No. 1 option in the passing game with Tyreek Hill out of the picture.

Over their last two playoff games, Kittle and Kelce have combined for 27 targets. Both tight ends could be heavily involved again on Sunday, with their combined number of receptions sitting at only 10.5.

Deebo Samuel to lead the game in receiving yards (+450)

While the Chiefs and star defensive back L’Jarius Sneed could be worried about Brandon Aiyuk, Samuel could test the Chiefs’ defense by getting the ball behind the line of scrimmage. Against a physical, tough defense, Shanahan could opt to fight fire with fire by dishing the ball Sameul’s way throughout the Super Bowl.

Samuel has led the 49ers in receiving in six different games this season, including the NFC championship against the Detroit Lions.

Regardless of numbers and gameplan, It’s clear Samuel is one of the league’s premier players, but there’s just something different about the 49ers’ star pass catcher in big moments. When the lights shine brightest, Samuel seems to channel a different gear. Sunday is Sameul’s main event.

Christian McCaffrey to win Super Bowl MVP (+450)

While the Super Bowl MVP award often goes to the quarterback, it’s just boring to bet on a passer to win the award because it just feels so obvious. Although it’s the quarterback’s award to win, there’s one player on the 49ers that could steal the show with a strong performance — Christian McCaffrey.

Coming off winning the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award, McCaffrey has shown the ability to take over games. Through the 2023 season. McCaffrey has posted a pair of games with hat trick touchdowns, including one four-score game.

Multiple touchdowns paired with a over 100 yards on the ground could be enough to pry the MVP award away from the quarterback position.
