6,397 new Covid cases, 18 deaths Tuesday

There were 18 more Covid-19 fatalities and 6,397 new cases recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Tuesday morning.

The 18 latest fatalities were between the ages of 70 and 93 years.

Of the new cases, 6,222 were in the general population, 10 were prison inmates, and 165 imported cases.

Bangkok had the most new cases at 753, followed by 598 in Samut Prakan, 556 in Chon Buri, 348 in Phuket, 281 in Nonthaburi, 274 in Khon Kaen, 171 in Ubon Ratchathani, 155 in Chiang Mai, 153 in Nakhon Ratchasima and 136 in Pathum Thani.

On Thursday 81,952 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals (down from 82,210), including 534 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation (up from 533) and 114 on ventilators (up from 108).

The 24-hour period also saw 6,637 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

The death toll stood at 21,956 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 258 so far this year.
