Ichiro Suzuki is objectively one of the best pure hitters MLB has ever seen. He has 10 200-hit seasons, and he’s a member of the 3,000-hit club. But at age 50, he did something he had never pulled off during his big-league career.
He shattered a window with a home run.
Back in Japan, Ichiro took some batting practice in front of a local baseball team, and one unsuspecting person ended up getting themselves a souvenir through their apartment or classroom window.

Obviously, that’s super impressive. The man is 50 years old and still hitting monster home runs. But his reaction was probably the best part. The moment that ball shattered the glass, he looked like a kid who had just thrown a baseball through their parents’ window.
Hey, someone should have thought about that before building apartments/schools and a baseball field so close to one another. That was bound to happen.
This was how Twitter reacted
One of my core baseball beliefs is that if Ichiro wanted to hit 500 home runs he would have. If he wanted to toss 3,000 strikeouts, he would have. If American baseball had advanced faster he would have had most of the same options Shohei has now https://t.co/uqxnzfJgNK

Like I get that high schoolers generally don't drive the ball that far, but I feel like these schools that put baseball fields this close to buildings are just asking for trouble https://t.co/P2EPhFVQlj

I tell this story every 6 months or so, I feel, but shortly after Ichiro retired we saw the Mariners in Colorado — he took BP in full uniform and put about 10 of his 15 swings into the second deck. One of the coolest things I've ever seen. https://t.co/Q19IGM8Kji

He can afford to replace the window. https://t.co/yDtFotr468

That look on his face… he knew he could hit those windows… and did it 😂😂😂 https://t.co/t05QqFNfwl

This window was already broken.
Ichiro can do no wrong. https://t.co/R0auYDl6hc— 🐐Tim Blonskee🐘 (@Timblonskee) November 7, 2023
If the Cubs don't get Shohei can they at least make a run at Ichiro? Dude's still got it. https://t.co/WBsXbBotJW

Ichiro could have hit 50 homers IF HE WANTED TO. But he CHOSE not to.
Seriously, this guy is, and always has been, freakin’ amazing! https://t.co/fROqHTXhBt
