5-Year-Old Palestinian Girl Shot By Israeli Soldiers In Gaza

A Palestinian man carries a child casualty at the site of Israeli strikes on houses, in Rafah

On Sunday, chaos erupted in northern Gaza as thousands of Palestinians were turned away from returning to their homes. Amid the turmoil, a tragic incident unfolded where a 5-year-old girl named Sally Abu Laila was shot in the head by Israeli soldiers, according to her mother.

A distressing video captured the moment when a man was seen carrying Sally, who was bleeding from her head, while surrounded by panicked onlookers trying to assist her.

Sally's mother, Sabreen, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that her daughter was in her arms when the soldiers opened fire. Sabreen, along with her four children, was attempting to pass through a checkpoint when two young men pushed their way through the line, prompting the soldiers to shoot.

Describing the heartbreaking scene, Sabreen shared, 'I tried to put my daughter on the ground to walk, but she couldn't move. I saw my hands covered in blood. I called out to her, but she didn't respond.'

After the incident, Sabreen rushed Sally to Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital, where the young girl is currently receiving intensive care. The severity of her condition has left the family in a state of distress.

Despite the reports of the incident, the Israeli military has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the alleged shooting of civilians in the area. Earlier statements from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) emphasized that the northern Gaza Strip remains a volatile war zone, and entry into the region is currently prohibited.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing tensions and violence that continue to plague the region, leaving innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of conflict.
