5 worst areas for Covid in Nottingham as expert warns of 'start of new wave'

New government data shows the worst areas in Nottingham affected by coronavirus after experts warned the UK is at the start of another wave. A drop in testing and common mistake in people diagnosing their symptoms as a cold are partially responsible for the expected spike.

According to the Office for National Statistics, 1.1million people in private households tested positive for Covid, which covered the seven days up to September 17 in England, and up to September 30 in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This was the first time the UK-wide total has been above one million since late August.

Professor Tim Spector, co-founder of the Covid ZOE app, told the Independent: "It looks like we’re in the start of the next wave and this time it’s affected older people slightly earlier than the last wave." Government data shows the worst areas in Nottingham for the seven days leading up to September 24.
