The Kansas City Chiefs are ready for yet another Super Bowl appearance, and they’ll have quarterback Blaine Gabbert on the sideline in a key role for Super Bowl 58 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
If something happens to starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Gabbert will step in and try to lead Kansas City to the Lombardi Trophy.
Gabbert is a seasoned veteran in the NFL who has played for six different franchises since entering the league in 2011.
Let’s talk a little about Gabbert’s road to Kansas City as we prepare to watch his team take on the San Francisco 49ers in the big game.

Gabbert was the 11th overall pick by the Jaguars in 2011
After playing college football at Missouri, Gabbert joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
However, he struggled to lock down the starting job long-term and only spent three seasons with the team before departing after 2013.

He played for three different franchises from 2014-18
Gabbert played for three different teams over the next five seasons, including the San Francisco 49ers, the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans.

He found a home with the Buccaneers for four seasons
Gabbert eventually found a home in Tampa Bay, as he spent four seasons with the Buccaneers backing up quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Jameis Winston.
4
He won a Super Bowl with the Bucs in 2021
Gabbert won his first Super Bowl ring as Brady’s backup in 2021 as the Bucs defeated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

He joined the Chiefs after Chad Henne retired
After longtime Chiefs backup quarterback Chad Henne retired following the 2023 Super Bowl, the team signed Gabbert to back up Mahomes.
He’ll now try to win his second Super Bowl ring, this time with Kansas City.
