Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has five teams chasing to land his signature including Sampdoria – according to a report in his homeland.
The 27-year-old is facing an increasingly uncertain future at Parkhead after Record Sport revealed talks over a new contract had been unsuccessful. J-League big-spenders Urawa Red Diamonds are confident of completing a deal, however, SDNA state there are up to five teams in the mix as they claim there is interest from Russia and Germany but have not named the interested parties.
Sampdoria have been namechecked in the Greek publication as have Urawa. Celtic will likely command a significant fee for a player who is under contract until 2026. Danish side Midtjylland walked away over a mooted move over a potential £6m fee. But Sampdoria are unlikely to be deterred by such a fee as they desperately seek a striker to save them from relegation.
Celtic are facing a window of change with a trio of new arrivals in Alistair Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata. South Korea World Cup Cho Gue-Sung could be next as talks continue after a £3million bid was lodged. And Josip Juranovic is heading for the exit door as Serie A upstarts Monza reportedly eye a £7m deferred summer deal with the Croatia star joining on loan this month. However, Record Sport understands that report is wide of the mark.
