5 Swimwear Trends Experts Predict To Dominate In 2025

Summer is here, and we’ve been hunting for the perfect pair of swimmers since we live in them now. We’ve already found summer dresses and sandals to sunglasses and handbags worth lining our wardrobe with. Now it’s time to unpack the latest swimwear trends to help find you the swimmers that’ll get you through the season.

To make sure we’ve got our fingers on the pulse, we caught up with Bydee’s Founder, Dessy Hairis, to unpack the swimwear trends that we’re seeing across Australian beaches. According to Dessy, there are five key trends to look out for this spring/summer.

Here’s everything you need to know and where to shop each trend.

One-of-a-Kind Printed Swimwear

According to Dessy, one-of-a-kind prints are going to be sought after for summer. “Think bold, eye-catching, unique prints that make a statement,” she says. “These aren’t your typical ditzy floral patterns—these are prints that demand attention and literally turn heads.”

The rise of boutique brands and a growing desire for individuality are fuelling this trend. “Customers are looking to add pieces to their wardrobe that stand out, something unique that feels like it was discovered in an exotic destination, sparking curiosity and admiration, often a topic of conversation,” says Dessy.

We’ve already spotted celebs like Rihanna and Zendaya embracing bold patterns that make a statement.

If you’re keen to try the swimwear trend, Dessy says the key is to let the bold print speak for itself.

“Keep styling minimal and cohesive by pairing with complementary tones. A perfect example is Bydee’s Baci Di Mare collection, inspired by the Italian coastline. Pair our Azzurro or Taormina prints with a piece from Royale, our cobalt blue-coloured Resort Wear.”

Matching Resort Wear That Perfectly Matches Your Swimwear

The rise of resort wear is only continuing to become more popular this year, with brands releasing outerwear to accompany each collection.

“Whether it’s the same print scaled up or a matching fabric, this approach ensures your holiday wardrobe is cohesive and effortlessly chic,” says Dessy. “It’s the perfect way to transition your look from beach to bar.”

The rise of TikTok GRWMs has played a big role in popularising this trend, according to Dessy. “Travellers who are often vlogging their trips to share with their audience are craving curated, statement-making looks that are easy to put together yet worthy of sharing. Matching resort and swim deliver that wow factor, capturing the carefree yet put-together vibe everyone wants while on holiday. Just add some tinted moisturiser, Rhodes pocket blush & peptide lip tint, and you’re good to go!”

One scroll through TikTok over the American summer, and you would have noticed that celebs like Winnie Harlow, Camila Coelho and Alix Earle are dabbling in the trend. “Their choices highlight the growing appeal of coordinating swim and resort wear for an elevated vacation wardrobe,” explains Dessy.

When it comes to styling your resort wear, it’s best to style in layers. “A standout example is our Andressa dress, sheer, lightweight, and the perfect layer over our Floresta swim. It’s an easy “pop on and go” option that seamlessly takes you from lounging by the pool to sipping cocktails at the bar, all while looking effortlessly chic,” she told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

Statement Hardware And Charms

We’re excited for this one! We’re starting to see more and more people pairing bold hardware like chunky gold rings, belly chains and unique charms with their swimwear to give the looks a bit more style. “These details add a layer of edge and luxury, transforming the pieces into a true fashion statement,” explains Dessy.

“The influence of jewellery-inspired swimwear details speaks to customers’ desire for swim pieces that double as fashion statements.”

Bydee has been at the forefront of this movement, offering charms on swimwear for over five years. Dessy explains to PEDESTRIAN.TV that with the rising demand for personalised, unique details, the appeal of swimwear that feels bespoke is stronger than ever. “Our recent Opa collection introduced detachable charms, allowing customers to choose from five distinct designs or even mix and match multiple charms to create a unique look.”

Like all good trends, it started with style icons like Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner, who have all been spotted wearing swimsuits with bold hardware and striking details to elevate their summer beach looks.

As someone who is keen to try to trend myself, I asked Dessy for her best styling advice without going to OTT.

“Coordinating accessories is key to enhancing this trend,” explains Dessy. She recommends layering necklaces and waist chains to create a cohesive look that transitions seamlessly from beach to bar.

One Bikini Top, Multiple Ways

Now this trend has been around for a while now, but we’re going to be seeing more of it this summer, according to Dessy.

“Babes are looking for versatility in their swimwear, seeking pieces that can be styled in multiple ways for maximum wearability.”

It’s typically a trend reserved for triangle bikini tops that can be worn seven ways. Not sure how to style it? Bydee has a handy video here.

It’s thought that sustainability and the “less is more” mindset are at the heart of this trend. “Customers are embracing the idea of buying smarter, investing in swimwear that offers multiple ways to wear,” says Dessy. That, and influencers are getting creative with their styling, including @priricart, @livrah, and @sophpiper_.

When trying it for yourself, Dessy recommends getting creative and playing with the way you tie your bikini straps. “Use the halter ties, cross-over designs, or make it a bandeau style to suit the vibe you’re going for.”

Once you’ve decided on how to tie it, she suggests pairing it with a bit of jewellery, matching bottoms, a lightweight sarong or any oversized cotton shirt for an easy transition from beach to brunch.

Sustainable And Eco-Friendly Materials

We’re hoping this one is less of a trend and more of a change within the swimwear space, but nonetheless. In the past five years, there has been a significant shift toward sustainable shopping habits, with customers increasingly prioritising eco-friendly options, explains Dessy.

“At Bydee, we’ve been using repreve fabrics, crafted from post-consumer materials since day one. This ensures our swimwear not only looks incredible but also contributes to a healthier planet.”

We know that across the board, the growing awareness of environmental issues has inspired Millennials and Gen Z to shop more consciously.

“This generation is leading the charge in demanding sustainable practices, and brands are stepping up to meet those expectations, Bydee included,” Dessy told PEDESTRIAN.TV. “We are constantly evolving our sustainable practices and excited about what the future looks like.”

While this trend isn’t heavily celebrity-driven, it’s encouraging to see consumers making more conscious, educated fashion choices.

So, what should you look out for if you’re looking to make some changes yourself? Read what fabrics are being used, look for brand missions that outline their sustainability efforts, and shop smaller, local brands rather than fast fashion.
