5 records Aaron Judge can break or approach if he keeps up his torrid home run, RBI pace

Aaron Judge recently went a whole five games without hitting a home run.

If you could call that a cold streak, OK fine. But then he went and hit another two home runs on Tuesday night to bring his season-long total to a whopping 57.

It’s safe to say that with 20 New York Yankees games to go, Judge has his sights on some big numbers that will go down in the record books as one unreal season. The greatest? Not quite, but still an all-timer of a year.

So let’s look at some records and such that he could break or approach in those final 20 games:

1
He could break Roger Maris' Yankees record for most home runs in a season

That’s the one a lot of New York fans are paying attention to. With five more dingers, he’ll pass Maris, who hit that many in 1961.

2
He needs, uh, 68 RBI to tie Hack Wilson for most in a single season

I know, not happening. But the fact is: He has 123 RBI. If he ends up with, say, 141, he’ll join a bunch of players in the top 100 all time who knocked in that many runs.

3
He needs to hit a bunch until the end of the season to win the AL Triple Crown

To be fair: He’s hitting .310, good for fourth in the American League (he’s behind Jose Abreau, Xander Bogaerts and Luis Arraez, the latter of whom leads the AL with a .319 average).

Judge pretty much has the RBI crown and HR crown locked up.

Doubt this one, but let’s talk about this for a sec: If he hits, say, 65, he’ll tie Mark McGwire for fourth-most in a season. How cool is that?
