The San Francisco 49ers are about to take on the Kansas City 49ers for a chance at a Super Bowl victory.
The 49ers have played the Chiefs on the big stage before, and they know how the moment plays out once you get to Super Bowl Sunday.
As we look at this San Francisco team and what it brings to the table, there are a few key reasons why this team will the 2024 Super Bowl.
While some of these might seem like no-brainers, they’re worth mentioning all the same. Let’s break down five reasons why the 49ers will be Super Bowl winners once again.
Kyle Shanahan is a mastermind
Shanahan is considered one of the brightest offensive minds in the NFL for a reason. His coaching tree reaches wide throughout the most successful offenses in the league, and he’s more than deserving of a first Super Bowl win.
If the 49ers are winning in Las Vegas, it’s in part because they have arguably the game’s sharpest mind on the sideline.
The offense is loaded
Deebo Samuel. Christian McCaffrey. George Kittle. Brandon Aiyuk. These are the stars of the 49ers offense, and you know them quite well.
However, this offense is so loaded that other players still pitch in and make a major impact on the field, like wide receivers Jauan Jennings Ray-Ray McCloud and Ronnie Bell, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, running back Elijah Mitchell and tight end Charlie Woerner.
San Francisco also has one of the best offensive lines in the league, led by future Hall of Famer Trent Williams at left tackle.
Did we mention quarterback Brock Purdy, who has exceeded expectations as a seventh-round draft pick and is an MVP finalist?
This offense is loaded, and it’s very hard to stop.
The defense has superstars too
The 49ers defense has some of the biggest names in the game.
Linebackers Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, defensive end Nick Bosa and defensive tackles Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave are some of the best at what they do. And we’re betting on all of them to make huge impacts during the 2024 Super Bowl.
Getting Patrick Mahomes uncomfortable in the pocket will be a major key to winning this game, and we’re thinking this group will play a big role in that.
Steve Wilks has been stellar at defensive coordinator
After he came over from the Carolina Panthers to replace DeMeco Ryans at defensive coordinator, Wilks has the 49ers playing like the superstar unit we all know it can be.
He’ll play a huge role in making sure this defense plays its best against Mahomes and the Chiefs, even if he’ll has his hands full with Mahomes.
They'll be hungry for redemption
The 49ers will certainly be eager to settle the score against the Chiefs and get that Super Bowl victory that has eluded the franchise since 1994.
It’s fascinating symmetry to get this matchup again, as both teams have remained among the NFL’s fiercest competitors since they last played on this big stage in 2020.
We’re betting a desire to find some sweet, sweet redemption against the team that beat them four years ago will fuel the 49ers on game day.
