The Georgia Bulldogs have an outstanding history of producing elite running backs. Georgia running back Herschel Walker is arguably the greatest college football player of all-time. Walker immediately impacted college football as a freshman. He helped Georgia win a national championship as a true freshman in 1980 as the focal point of the team.
It takes a running back to be on another level to be productive as a true freshman. One way of illustrating how difficult it is to look at the Bulldogs that did not make make finish among the top five leading freshman rushers in school history. Excellent backs like Sony Michel, Garrison Hearst, Terrell Davis and D’Andre Swift all miss out of Georgia’s all-time freshman rushing leader list.
