Down by seven to Western Kentucky at home with only a few seconds left on the first-half clock, Indiana decided to go for the big play to try to tie the game before halftime Saturday.
Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, their halftime Hail Mary attempt didn’t work out.
Also unfortunately for them, along with a couple Hilltoppers as well, the play came to a punishingly abrupt — though hopefully not too painful — stop thanks to the goal post in Indiana’s end zone.
On 4th-and-16 on Western Kentucky’s 40-yard line with less than 10 second left, Indiana quarterback Connor Bazelak heaved the ball downfield as players on both sides scrambled toward the back of the end zone. Amid chaos, several players went up for the ball before at least five of them (by our count) crashed into the goal post.
This might be a record for most players crashing into a goal post at the same time 😅 pic.twitter.com/1sQ6XiQwaL

Ouch. Luckily, all the players were able to get up, and none seemed injured by the goal post’s interference.
Indiana turned the ball over on downs and entered the half losing, 17-10.
