The Denver Broncos are 1-3 and they are set to have just six picks in the 2024 NFL draft in April. Denver will hold a first-round pick in 2024, but the team does not have a second-round pick.
Regardless of whether or not they want to admit it, the Broncos need to enter a rebuilding phase, especially on defense. To do that, Denver will need to acquire more draft picks.
Later this week, we’ll publish a list of players the Broncos should not part ways with — including star cornerback Pat Surtain — but today, we’re taking a quick look at five players Denver should be willing to trade if the price is right.
The NFL’s trade deadline for the 2023 season is Tuesday, Oct. 31.
1
WR Jerry Jeudy
Jeudy is a talented player, but he has never quite lived up to his first-round hype in Denver. If the Broncos can land a first-round pick from a WR-needy team, general manager George Paton should look to trade Jeudy.
2
WR Courtland Sutton
Similar to Jeudy, Sutton has drawn trade interest from several teams in recent months. The Broncos might be willing to accept a second-round pick for Sutton.
3
S Justin Simmons
Simmons is still one of the top safeties in the NFL, but he’ll turn 30 years old in November and the Broncos might be able to land a first-round pick for the three-time second-team All-Pro.
4
DL Mike Purcell
The Broncos probably wouldn’t land much more than a late-round pick for a 32-year-old nose tackle, but Purcell has not been a key part of the team’s defensive line rotation. If Paton can get something in a trade, he should take it.
5
ILB Josey Jewell
Jewell has been a reliable defender and leader for the Broncos and he’s their best inside linebacker, but Denver needs to consider moving players with trade value, including Jewell.
We’ll be following trade rumors and reports leading up to the NFL’s trade deadline all month long on Broncos Wire.
