Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is ready for the big screen.
On the latest episode of New Heights, the Chiefs superstar mentioned that he’s “looking for movie deals” and specifically wanted to be part of the upcoming Adam Sandler Happy Gilmore sequel.
Kelce tried his hand as a reality TV star, dabbled as a film producer recently and took a role on a Ryan Murphy FX horror show. However, it sounds like he’s ready to really establish himself on the screen with his NFL career a finite one.
With Kelce’s popularity as high as ever right now due to his relationship with Taylor Swift, we have no doubt Hollywood will take him up on his offer.
We’ve got five movie ideas for Kelce as he prepares for a post-football career in acting, ranging from a buddy comedy to a mystery whodunnit franchise.
A buddy comedy with Jason Kelce
Our first idea is the most obvious: the Kelce brothers desperately need to star in a buddy comedy with each other. Call Judd Apatow and let him oversee the Kelce brothers taking part in some zany shenanigans that leans in on their priceless banter and shared comedic chops. Studios should do whatever they can to get the Kelce brothers together for a buddy comedy. It’d make bank.
A frenzied thriller with one of the Safdie brothers
Imagine Kelce being featured in an Uncut Gems-type thriller from one of the Safdie brothers. He’s got the energy and charisma to slot right into one of those Safdie pulse-pounders that leaves you sweating in your seat. We think Kelce would thrive in a chaotic script and with a Safdie-style nightmare.
A Knives Out movie
With the third Knives Out movie about to begin production, writer/director Rian Johnson should give Kelce a call for a cameo in the upcoming project if the latter’s schedule allows. Even better, he should be a featured player in a fourth film if it ever comes to be. He’d be perfect for the template and a very funny foil for Benoit Blanc in the ensemble whodunnit mystery series.
A romantic comedy set in the NFL
Some studio executive somewhere in Hollywood probably has a pile of spec scripts sitting on their desktop that play off Kelce’s whirlwind NFL romance with Swift. Why not have Kelce play a twist on himself in that eventual project? We think he could pull it off, and he’s already a dead ringer for a fictional movie athlete, being that, well, he’s an actual athlete.
A Muppets movie
This might be the best one yet. Putting Kelce in a movie surrounded by a bunch of Muppets just sounds like comedy gold. It takes a certain caliber of actor to really thrive in a Muppets project, and Kelce feels right for it. Someone call Disney and make this happen ASAP, and get Jason, too.
