5 Man Utd wonderkids being lined up for loan exits before transfer deadline

With less than a week to go until the transfer window slams shut, Manchester United still have a bit of business left to take care of.

We have already seen some new faces arrive at Old Trafford, with Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst both joining on loan. While former England goalkeeper Butland has joined as a backup to David de Gea, Dutch striker Weghorst has been more involved and scored his first United goal in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

There could yet be further movement in the other direction, though. Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford shortly before the window opened, while promising youngster Shola Shoretire has joined Bolton on loan, and Mirror Football has looked at five more wonderkids who look set to finish the campaign elsewhere.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United's goal is to find regular playing time for starlets not yet ready for Erik ten Hag's first team. Those involved are a mix of those with senior minutes already under their belt and those a little further from the action.

Two stars who made their debuts in last season's Champions League are among those potentially nearing an exit. Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal both came off the bench against Young Boys in December 2021, but have largely been back with the under-21s since Ten Hag took over from Ralf Rangnick.

Savage is due to head to Forest Green Rovers, with the League One side's appointment of Duncan Ferguson not changing their desire to bring the midfielder to The New Lawn. Iqbal could also move elsewhere for a few months, though the MEN reports that he could be kept around the first team with United light in midfield after Donny van de Beek's injury.

Charlie McNeill is another youngster tipped to head out on loan for senior minutes. The teenage forward made his debut for United this season in a Europa League defeat against Real Sociedad, but has not added to that brief run-out and could move amid interest from League One and League Two.

Di'Shon Bernard and Bjorn Hardley are also on the list of potential loanees. The pair played together at centre-back for United's under-21 side in December as they were eliminated from the Papa John's Trophy by Bolton Wanderers, and could both be given some first-team action in the lower leagues.

Bernard, 22, spent the last two seasons out on loan at Salford City and Hull City respectively, and made his only senior United appearance in 2019 against Astana in the Europa League. Dutch youngster Hardley is still waiting for his first senior competitive minutes, but was an unused substitute against Young Boys in last season's Champions League.
