The bathrooms color trends to follow in 2024
There are so many bathroom color ideas to choose from, so before redecorating your bathroom, think about the colors you love and the atmosphere you're trying to create. Do you want a soothing sanctuary or a maximalist bathroom haven? Whatever you choose, make sure it reflects your personal interior design style and compliments the finishes used in your bathroom.
1. Joyful yellow
Often the last room you use before heading to bed and the first when you get up in the morning, it's important your bathroom feels uplifting and puts you in a good mood for the day ahead.
'I’ve always been a fan of bathrooms being painted in bold colors such as yellow, it is instant indoor vitamin D to lift the spirits and brighten your mood,' says interior designer Matthew Williamson.
'Bright, optimistic, and energizing, you can’t go wrong with a yellow bathroom, especially if space is a premium, as it sparks instant joy. I find yellow in all its variants to be such a vibrant and cheering color, it’s more versatile than people think and so unexpected. Yellow elevates the everyday – it’s both inviting and energizing.'
2. Earthy tones
Bathrooms are perfect spaces for creating a tranquil zone, so earthy color palettes such as smooth browns and calming greens work wonders.
'With the bathroom being the self-care and wellness routine center, relaxing colors and luxury design will be top of mind this year,' confirms Hannah Yeo, Senior Manager of Color Marketing at Benjamin Moore.
'Add richness with a deep earth tone such as River Reflections 1552. Combined with natural wood, premium hardware, and layered textures, this bathroom is sure to feel warm, enveloped, and soothing.'
3. Medium blue shades
Some color palettes are closely associated with bathrooms, and there is no reason not to lean into tradition in 2024 if that's what you like.
'When it comes to bathroom colors, you can never go wrong with decorating with blue. In 2024, I'm hoping we see more depth and variety in bathroom blues though,' says Kathy Kuo, interior designer and CEO at Kathy Kuo Home.
'Don't be afraid to go beyond navy and teal—why not experiment with Prussian blue, turquoise, and French blue for a chic bathroom update?'
4. Warm neutrals
A balance of old and new can help to create an inviting bathroom, and choosing the right color palette for the room offsets the details perfectly. Neutral colors like cozy browns, warm whites, and tones of greige work well in a variety of spaces.
'Reimagined antiques and meaningful details can create a vintage-inspired look. Consider Venetian Portico AF-185, a perfect backdrop to bring out the functional and decorative elements to complete the nostalgic look,' Hannah Yeo recommends.
'It brings out the warmth that feels soft and romantic with a touch of glam against metal and glass accents.'
5. Classic white with natural materials
White is a timeless color in any space, especially a bathroom. Add warmth and interest by pairing it with natural wood bathroom cabinets and gold accents for a classic look.
'There has been a definite move towards the simplicity of nature and reflections of the natural world' says Mor Krisher, head of product design at Caesarstone. 'I think that’s why the current design trends revolve around natural materials and sustainable products. We always suggest prioritizing truly timeless designs that will be loved for years.'
2024 is a year of creating inviting, uplifting bathrooms, and the color predictions are a reflection of that. Bold colors are set to dominate trends this year, while warmer variations of our favorite neutrals will sate minimalists.
