5 games to watch on Sunday for Vikings fans

It’s always a weird feeling when the Minnesota Vikings don’t play football on a Sunday afternoon. Yes, it’s cool to have a primetime game, but Sunday afternoon is the best time to watch a football game.

With there being no Vikings games, that leaves all of Sunday open to watching the rest of the league.

There is plenty of intrigue to start week two. The Kansas Chiefs are in danger of starting 0-2 when they travel to face the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder is 29-0 playing at home since the beginning of his college career.

If you find yourself unsure of what to watch, these five games are ones you should watch.

1. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

This has a chance to be the game of the day. These two teams played each other last season in the regular season and the playoffs. The Chiefs won both of those games, but this Jaguars team is much improved from last season, especially with Calvin Ridley in the fold. The Chiefs are in real danger to start 0-2 on the season.

2. Green Bay Packers vs. Atlanta Falcons

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Yes, the Packers looked good against a putrid Chicago Bears team, but what will they be just as good against a better team? That is the question, as is how good their quarterback Jordan Love.

For the Falcons, Desmond Ridder completed 15-of-18 but only threw for 115 yards. If they can’t attack down the field with their weapons, that could be a problem. At least they have Bijan Robinson to counterbalance that.

3. Tennessee Titans vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

It’s always good to scout your future opponents and the Chargers are the Vikings opponent next Sunday. Against the Miami Dolphins, they had a historically successful rushing game, but lost a shootout 34-31. With the Vikings’ run defense looking like a sieve, that is something to monitor with the Chargers against the Titans excellent front.

4. Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

The Vikings don’t play either of these teams, but this will be an interesting game. The Dolphins offense is really fun and incredibly explosive. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are sprinters who are explosive as route runners. Can they generate the same kind of explosive plays against Bill Belichick? That chess match will be a fun one to watch.

5. San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams

Week one showed that, despite a lot of youth, the Rams might be able to compete. Puka Nacua and Tutu Atwell stepped up in the absence of Cooper Kupp and played really well. They will be tested in a major way in taking on a 49ers team that looked like a dominant force against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Can they continue that or will the 49ers defense annihilate the Rams offensive line and shut it down?
