The 49ers on Thursday began their week of practice still facing some significant injury issues on their defensive line.
Defensive tackles Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave, neither of whom suited up Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, were both non-participants in Thursday’s session.
Armstead is still working through knee and foot issues, while Hargrave is making his way back from a hamstring injury.
An extra day off with the team not set to take on the Ravens until Monday night could ultimately help some of San Francisco’s banged up players get back on the field, but missing the first practice of the week isn’t a great sign.
Here’s the full Thursday practice report:
Did not participate
DT Arik Armstead (foot, knee)
LB Oren Burks (knee)
TE Ross Dwelley (ankle)
DT Javon Hargrave (hamstring)
WR Jauan Jennings (concussion)
RB Elijah Mitchell (knee)
Shanahan said he didn’t have any idea about the potential readiness of his two starting defensive tackles. Jennings could benefit from the extra day as he aims to clear concussion protocol.
Limited participation
DE Clelin Ferrell (ankle)
Ferrell hurt his ankle in the Cardinals game. That he was limited to start the week is good news, but ideally he’d progress to a full participant throughout the week.
Full participation
G Spencer Burford (knee)
CB Deommodore Lenoir (rib)
This is great news for San Francisco. Burford has been in and out of the lineup with a couple different knee injuries. His return gives them their full starting unit back. Lenoir has also been excellent and was dealing with a rib issue that knocked him out of Sunday’s game in Arizona. His full participation means he’s on track to go vs. Baltimore.
Did not participate (non-injury related)
DE Nick Bosa (not injury related – resting player)
LT Trent Williams (not injury related – resting player)
