49ers to host Packers in divisional round after Cowboys choke in playoffs again

Death, taxes and the Dallas Cowboys face-planting in January. This time they didn’t even need to face the 49ers to do so. Dallas got dismantled at home 48-32 by the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers on Sunday, ending all questions about who San Francisco will host in the divisional round.

The 49ers hold the No. 1 seed in the NFC, meaning they’d host the lowest seed to make it out of the wild card round. Green Bay is the lowest seed at No. 7, so it removes all qualifiers about San Francisco’s opponent. The outcomes of Rams-Lions and Eagles-Buccaneers no longer matter.

It’s unclear at this point when the 49ers and Packers will play. When they do face off it will be the 10th playoff meeting all-time between the teams. San Francisco is 5-4 in those games, including each of the last four. Green Bay hasn’t beaten the 49ers in the postseason since their wild card win in January of 2002.
