The Bears defense will face a tall order stopping the 49ers offense during Sunday’s season opener, as they have a myriad of offensive playmakers. But it sounds like Chicago might just catch a break due to an injury to a star player.
49ers tight end George Kittle missed Wednesday’s practice with a groin injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Kittle injured his groin during Monday’s practice, and he’s not sure of Kittle’s status for Sunday’s game against the Bears.
#49ers TE George Kittle has a groin injury, suffered in Monday’s practice, per Kyle Shanahan. Kittle is not practicing today. Unclear right now if it will keep him out this week.

Kittle has been one of the league’s best tight ends and one of the 49ers’ top weapons. His loss would be a huge blow for San Francisco’s offense under first-year starting quarterback Trey Lance.
If Kittle can’t go Sunday, it’s one less weapon for Chicago’s defense to contend with outside of Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
