The 49ers on Tuesday made a splash just ahead of the trade deadline. They sent a compensatory third-round pick to the Washington Commanders in exchange for defensive end Chase Young.
Young will join an already loaded, albeit disappointing, defensive line for San Francisco. His 5.0 sacks in 2023 are more than any other player on the 49ers.
Despite sending a third-round pick in the deal, the 49ers still hold a pair of third-round selections next year thanks to the compensatory selections they acquired when Ran Carthon joined the Titans as their general manager.
Here’s their full slate of projected picks in next year’s draft:
Round 1
Round 2
Round 3
Round 3 (Compensatory)
Round 4
Round 4 (via Dallas)
Round 5 (Compensatory)
Round 5 (Compensatory)
Round 6 (Compensatory)
Round 7
Round 7 (via Denver)
The 49ers lost a sixth-round choice in the deal to acquire Randy Gregory from the Broncos, but they did receive a seventh-round pick back in that trade.
The 2024 NFL draft is set to take place Thursday, April 25.
