49ers QB Brock Purdy lighting it up in Super Bowl practices

There may not be much better news coming out of 49ers pre-Super Bowl practices than Kyle Shanahan’s assessment of quarterback Brock Purdy.

Purdy is on track to start Super Bowl LVIII for the 49ers in his second NFL season. These will be the brightest lights he’s played under, and after some up-and-down showings in the first two postseason games this season it would make sense for Purdy to have some nerves leading up to the contest.

If he does, it’s not showing according to Shanahan. He spoke with a pool reporter after Thursday’s practice and had high praise for the 49ers’ second-year signal caller.

A locked in Purdy may be the biggest key to a 49ers victory Sunday. The Chiefs secondary and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo make quarterbacks work extremely hard either by deciphering coverages or throwing against heavy pressure.

If Purdy can generate yards against the blitz and avoid being baited into a turnover or two, it would make it very hard for the Chiefs to come up with stops in the biggest game of the year.
