49ers injury updates immediately following loss to Packers

Sunday was an afternoon to forget for San Francisco 49ers fans.

By the time it was all said and done, the 49ers had suffered their largest-ever loss to the Green Bay Packers in a frustrating 38-10 blowout loss at Lambeau Field.

Of course, San Francisco entered this Week 12 matchup minus starting quarterback Brock Purdy, offensive tackle Trent Williams and defensive end Nick Bosa.

During the course of the 49ers’ loss, the injury front went from bad to worse. The 49ers announced that defensive tackle Jordan Elliott had been ruled out with a concussion.

Per Matt Barrows of the Athletic, left guard Aaron Banks is now dealing with a suspected concussion as well.

Williams was listed as questionable with an ankle injury in the 49ers’ Friday injury report. After the loss, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan explained why they felt Williams wasn’t suited to go.

“It was close. We took it all the way up until now. I mean, all the way up until today, but he was hurting yesterday a little worse than last week at this time which made us nervous and didn’t wake up good today,” Shanahan said of Williams.

Shanahan said the team will monitor Purdy’s status early next week to see if a return from his right shoulder injury is a possibility for the 49ers in their Week 13 date at the Buffalo Bills.

“He’s been rehabbing the whole time here. I’m sure we’ll take him through some stuff early Monday or Tuesday and got a better idea then,” Shanahan said of Purdy.

San Francisco (5-6) will look to bounce back from its second two-game losing streak of the season when they kick off at Buffalo (9-2) on Dec. 1 at 5:20 p.m. PT for a primetime Sunday Night Football date on NBC.
