The 49ers left their Week 16 showdown against the Commanders with a 37-20 win and their health intact.
San Francisco’s only injury issue during the game came in late in the third quarter when cornerback Charvarius Ward exited to the medical tent on the sideline. He was later seen walking to the locker room with trainers. It turned out he was experiencing some nausea that required some examination.
“The only thing we had from the game, Mooney went in, reported some nausea, they checked him out on everything and he ended up being alright though,” Shanahan said after the game.
Ward, who suffered a concussion last week, eventually re-entered the game.
Running back Jordan Mason was also banged up early in the contest. He was questionable with a hamstring injury, then stayed down for a bit after the opening kickoff. Shanahan said Mason was checked out and was good to go.
“I didn’t get to see it, but the guy got tripped up and went low on him,” Shanahan said. “I think he got more scared than anything, thought it was going to be his knee for a little bit and by the time he jogged off and told me, they came back like five seconds later and said he was alright.”
The 49ers get an extra day off after playing Saturday. They’ll be back in action Sunday against the Raiders in Las Vegas.
