49ers injuries: Arik Armstead, Spencer Burford could miss time after Eagles game

The 49ers appeared to escape Philadelphia with minimal injury issues, but a new update from head coach Kyle Shanahan indicates San Francisco could be without a handful of players in Week 14 when they host the Seattle Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium.

Shanahan on Monday opened his conference call by giving a quick injury update from Sunday’s game. Here’s a rundown of that update:

TE Ross Dwelley (ankle)

Dwelley suffered a high ankle sprain during Sunday’s game according to Shanahan. The head coach indicated in his postgame press conference that Dwelley exited the game because of an ankle injury. Imaging the following day confirmed a high ankle issue that will keep the veteran tight end out a few weeks.

DL Arik Armstead (foot, knee)

Perhaps the biggest injury news for the 49ers came when Shanahan noted a pair of injuries for Armstead. Immediately after the game Shanahan said the defensive lineman left the contest because of a foot injury which he’d been dealing with leading up to the game. However on Monday Shanahan said Armstead is also now working through a knee injury and that the team is “still gathering more information” on that. It’s unclear what his status is for Sunday against Seattle, but there should be an update Wednesday when Shanahan talks again.

OL Spencer Burford (knee)

Burford missed Week 12 against Seattle because of a knee injury and then was limited in the first two practices of Week 13. He did play in Philadelphia, but he hurt his other knee this time. Burford does have a chance to play Sunday against the Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium depending on how his knee responds during the week.

CB Darrell Luter Jr. (hamstring)

Luter, a rookie cornerback, debuted in Week 12 and is now likely to be sidelined again. Shanahan said he suffered a hamstring injury against Philadelphia that will likely force him to miss Week 14’s showdown against the Seahawks.

WR Ray-Ray McCloud (ribs)

McCloud is still day-to-day with a rib injury. He missed Sunday’s game vs. the Eagles. WR Deebo Samuel handled kick return duties in his absence. Rookie WR Ronnie Bell fielded the punts.
