49ers HC Kyle Shanahan: Kyler Murray can be ‘scariest’ QB in league to face

The Arizona Cardinals will travel to California to face the San Francisco 49ers on the road this weekend. Having lost two games in a row, the Cardinals need quarterback Kyler Murray to have a big game.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke highly of Murray and considers him one of the most dangerous players in the league especially when things go off-schedule on the field.

He noted something many have observed about Murray this year.

“He just looks so much more comfortable,” Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday.

That isn’t to say he looked bad in it last year in his return from his ACL injury. Quite the opposite.

“I thought he looked really good last year when he came in, just watching their offense, seeing him in that new scheme for the first time,” he said. “I think he got to sit back and watch other guys do it. And then him coming in, you could tell he really consciously tried to play within the confines of the offense, which was different to see, just how the scheme was before.”

Shanahan then went on to praise Murray for what can make him one of one in terms of quarterbacks.

“And then always when he isn’t playing in the confines of the offense, how he can be the scariest guy in the league. Kyler has always played at a pretty high level, when he is healthy, and he’s doing that right now.”

Murray has been playing at a high level, although he has not had big numbers the last two weeks.

The 49ers’ defense has not been as good this season as in years past. We will see if his playmaking can lead to an Arizona upset.
