49ers have 2 top 50 NFL players at WR

As the NFL season inches closer to week one, preseason rankings, predictions and different lists are beginning to spread across the football community on the internet.

Prior to the season, Pro Football Focus is counting down the top 50 players heading into the 2024 NFL season. At 50, the list from PFF starts with a pair of 49ers’ pass catchers.

Following his second career trip to the Super Bowl with the 49ers, Deebo Samuel was listed at No. 50 on PFF’s rankings. Samuel is coming off a season with a new.career-high in receiving touchdowns. Samuel recorded 60 receptions for 892 yards with seven touchdown receptions in 15 games. The South Carolina product added 225 yards on the ground with five touchdowns. Samuel earned an 83.0 overall grade from PFF last season.

Just one spot in front of Samuel is his teammate in the San Francisco wide receiver room, Brandon Aiyuk. The four-year veteran out of Arizona State landed just one spot in front of Samuel at No. 49 on PFF’s list.

Aiyuk is coming off a career-high season in receiving yards with 1342 yards on 105 receptions. Aiyuk added seven touchdown grabs in his fourth season with the 49ers.

PFF praised Aiyuk efficiency depiste his lack of volume in San Francisco’s offense. Aiyuk notched a 92.3 overall grade last year on the PFF scale, trailing only Miami’s Tyreek Hill at wide receiver.
